I’ve independently published a couple of books. Now, I want a traditional publisher for my next book. Time to stop letting life take things out of my control and make it happen.
How to publish another book
How I did it: I wrote another book, contacted my precious publisher, Authorhouse, and they said alrighty then. That's pretty much it. :P
I marketed myself like crazy, and I GOT EDUCATED AND GOT A DAY JOB! So that I could have money to market.
You can't think you'll be successful, but you'll hope for it. I do not makes lots of money. But I enjoy doing it. That's all that matters.
I did poetry readings, I went out and talked to people, I marketed like crazy. Basically that was about 40% of my time, in the first few months.
I self published, but put the work in.
Lessons & tips: Self publish first, and market yourself like crazy, you'll save money on agents. And most publishers are mildly grouchy at best. Most are just snobby, and expect you to be established before they take you. I was 19 when my first got published. I am 19 now, with a second on the way. Get a job, save up some cash, get a teacher to edit it, and market yourself like crazy.
Annoy, and send emails, make phone calls, do everything an agent would do. Find connections, and start small.

The second book is to be the three-part autobiography I’ve been working on for ten years. Right now I need to pull together a bunch of handwritten material for part one and continue with parts two and three and perhaps submit excerpts for possible funding. To whom? I’m not sure.
I published a book 3 years ago as a gift for my friend. And I have been asked over and over again when am I going to publish another one, so I suppose I need to start putting together another manuscript. Writing helps relieve a lot of feelings and stress, so it’s therapeutic for me. Finding the time; however, will be challenging.
