Acne Diet makes me more interested in food 9 months ago

I’ve been doing an acne diet of just fruit and veg and some meats and it’s really opened my eyes to the types of food we eat. I want to be able to cook all the meals I usually eat in a day, healthy meals. I think being able to cook my own food keeps me away from junkfood.

This year I have been getting back into cooking more and more. I have started cooking for myself. I often freeze extra portions, which are a nice easy meal later on when I am too tired to cook. I have been trying a lot of new recipes, and have found some favorites to add to my “repertoire.” I enjoy cooking again and while I usually fix myself dinner, I definitely fudge on lunch, and mostly eat breakfast out. So, I would like to get to where I am fixing myself healthy meals most every day, three meals a day.

It is a sheer joy to make food for yourself and know exactly what you are eating.

I think i've got this one licked.. 21 months ago

I’ve gotten a lot better at managing my pantry/kitchen.
I’m happier/healthier for it.

broiled catfish with white wine and mushrooms over long grain rice with a side of broccoli rabe! YUM! 21 months ago

Good things come from left-over condiments/bottles of wine!

I also made a small veggie lasagna, a dinners worth of minipizzas and a black bean soup all with one jar of tomato sauce this week… before it got moldy!

I love being resourceful, its so satisfying!

I can cook some dish for myself 22 months ago

I am a chinese gril ,so I have learned how to cook some simple chinese dish, like tomato fry egg,fry potato, fry chinese cabbage, fry green pepper and bean curd etc. They all have a good taste and have nutrition to our body. The important thing of cooking them is seasoning, you must hold kind, time, weight, three points of using seasoning. Some dish I am now can cook better than my mother.

Might help if I had a working stove -- but I can make do. 23 months ago

I have a microwave, two-burner hotplate, roaster, crockpot, etc. so I can plan 10 to 15 meals and/or snacks around using them.

Mmm.... Yummy 23 months ago

Tonight i home-made pizza… Its SO good…
I used the following recipe for a ‘yeast-free crust’. Kind of a light ‘thin crust’ effect. Delicious!
2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
2/3 c. water
1/4 c. vegetable oil

Mix flour, salt, baking powder and water.
Knead on floured counter just until workable and spreadable, about 2 minutes.
Put on pizza pan, with fingers spread vegetable oil on crust (helps so tomato sauce won’t soak in crust)
Bake at 425 degrees for 20 minutes.

I’m also making another pot of soup… so i can freeze it in zippy bags and take it for lunches. I LOVE my new SOUP HABIT.
-wait i gotta go.. my spoon’s itchy..

good thing, but... 23 months ago

... I actually decided to eat only raw veggies from now on. It’s a lot easier because cooking isn’t necessary for that, and it’s also healthier.. errr :D

Sounds like giving up, but it isn’t. I just reconsidered ;)

http://www.dominomag.com/howtos/recipes/sweet/pumpkin_cupcakes

okay, so i have been thinking about cooking these for weeks, when i realized, dude, its halloween!

lets make cupcakes!

I cooked them for myself under the pretense of taking them to work/ a party on thursday… i had to test 2 so far.
The recipie i linked to, makes about 12 GIANT cupcakes if you have a biggie muffin tin, i don’t and now i have about 36 smally muffins, all the better for sharing.

i can totally bake, because baking is scary and you shouldn’t add/substitute if you don’t REALLY know what you’re doing.

SO GLAD ABOUT PUMPKIN BLISS CUPCAKES>>> GLAD!
