"I had had enough when I saw how damaged my hair was becoming. My last "dye" was May 08, and now that I see this new healthy and shiny growth, I can't imagine dyeing it again! I can't wait until the ugly blond mess is all grown out :)"

How I did it: I just STOPPED. Cold turkey!! I haven't dyed my hair in 10 months and love the way it looks now (well, the top half :P) Once you see how healthy your new hair is, the addiction will be the other way around - you'll hopefully feel the need to protect your new healthy hair and not harm it by dyeing it! At least that's how it was for me. Good luck!

Lessons & tips: If you must, use natural plant-based dyes every so often to match roots to ends. Again, only if you really can't stand it! Otherwise you're more likely to fall back into the dyeing cycle.    

Resources: NaturColor hair dye from Whole Foods. I used it once (lasted about 2 weeks) and liked it, but then decided that I was just going to let those roots show!

    Ok so i haven’t dyed it since January 07…before that i had highlighted it for about two years and then dyed it all brown and then darker brown in Jan was the last time I dyed it…Fortnuately the dye and my natural color are really close, but i have been having a hard time not going to the salon to highlight it again because I miss my blonde hair. I really shouldn’t though since it is in bad shape (dry and brittle) and I dont want to cut it since it’s really long. SOrry this is sooooooo boring, but i just thought i would share in hopes that someone can offer input and be supportive :) Thanks

    I am so happy with my natural color! I totally forgot how natural and pretty it makes me look :) Plus, I totally do not have money to dye my hair anymore.. im a starving college student :)

    I’m trying to let my hair grow out, but these roots are really starting to bother me. I’m not dyeing my hair “back,” though, because that never works. Maybe I should just cut my hair short. Argh!

    If anyone knows anything about dyeing hair, it’s me. I’ve dyed my hair over 50 times threw out my 8th grade year threw now actally, and I’m still dying it. Here lately I want to change it every month, it’s crazy. right now it’s 5 diff. colors. Black, red, orange, purple and blonde. This weekend i’m doing it again bright red, I’m worried if i don’t stop my boyfriend will end up brekaing up with me. Because you know how cruel people can be and make fun of people who like to express themselfs. I express myself threw my hair
