I could come up with 43 or 143 but some are at war with their bodies so I thought I’d tweak us to remember they’re actually perfect.
1. My hands. They both work and sometimes when they’re typing away or holding someone else’s hands, I’m amazed that we don’t start each day praising the miracle of hands.
2. My tongue. I sprained my tongue once and it’s amazing what a useful piece of muscle it is. It was hard to eat or talk and ice cream cones became cruel jokes.
3. My waist. With no work from me, it’s small.
4. My heart. What an unappreciated workhorse it is, small, elegant, loyal and enthusiastic.
5. My eyes. Even when they tell people more than I’m comfortable with, even if they often send the tears before I’ve even felt the emotion, I love my eyes.
6. My ribs. Okay, that’s a joke. (But now that I think about it, they’re flexible and protective of what keeps me alive. If I did as well for myself, I’d have a wonderful life.)
7. My feet. All those bones gliding and working. What an amazingly well engineered piece of human.
8. My brain. For obvious reasons.
9. My gluteus muscles. That is one fine ass and it’s so nice to no longer deny that.
10. My ears. If I had to choose between being blind or deaf it wouldn’t take me a second. Take my eyes. Without music or the sound of wind in trees or the voices of loved ones or the sound of the ocean, I can’t imagine what life would mean.
