Haven’t tried this yet. I’m all for trying something that will allow my savings to work harder for me! I think I’ll look into it this week!
I transferred most of the contents of my savings account into a CD this morning. I’m excited because the interest rate is really good, and I wasn’t going to touch the money anyway (so it might as well be earning more money, right?). Maybe I’ll open more of these as I start to build my savings up again.
Glad to mark this off as done!
coming in the mail next week to start one of these up. I’m excited. I’m planning to put most of the money I’ve saved up so far into a CD, and with the higher interest rate it will earn more money than just sitting in my savings account.
I know nothing about money. Nothing. (Well, besides how to spend it!) :) When I start working for real, I want to be responsible with the money I make and build up a nice savings. I looked into CDs today and that seems like a good option for me.
I think when I get my sign on bonus when I start work, I will put it into a CD. Since it is an “extra” thing, and not part of my real pay, I won’t miss it being wisked away into savings.
All right, I got my check and went to the bank and opened up a CD. The rates went slightly up this month so that was cool. It was also good to hear that I can add money at any time to this CD. Of course that money won’t be available until 8 months from now, but it wasn’t like I was going to spend it anyways.
Therefore I’m going to put it into a 8 month CD. I’m still waiting on another paycheck from my previous job, so once that arrives I will go to the bank!

It was so cool and it didn’t cost me a lot of money either. I am planning on opening another next week or so. I want to keep on investing my money no matter if it is just $10.00.
I am going to try for $25.00 next week if I can afford it. If not, I will just open another one for $15.00 or $10.00. Nevertheless, I will open another one.
This is soooooo AWESOME!

I have my first CD for $10.00 for 6 months. I am planning on spending a little bit of money each paycheck if I can so I can get a bigger one as the time goes on.
I am so excited that I completed this goal!

I did it. Well, it is not official yet, but I opened the account with INGdirect.com. A fellow 43thinger wrote an entry about it and I was interested in opening a CD with a small amount.
I opened mine with only $10.00 for 6 months. I can afford that for now. I hope that I can open others as time goes by.
I have to now confirm the deposits to my checking account in the next 2-4 days and then my $10.00 CD will be official and this goal will be done for now! I can’t wait until next week!
