I’m so sorry I missed your birthday by a few weeks. I was inexcusably lazy about writing. Anyway, I recently saw a card for a belated birthday greeting that said something on the outside like “you’re beautiful!” and “you’re the best!” and then on the inside said something like “wasn’t that worth waiting for?!” Along similar lines, here’s a Bewick’s wren I saw in the local foothills earlier this summer. Maybe sometime I’ll try to find a different type of wren to send you for your birthday! :-) 8 months ago

Hey, if you can’t be remembered for being first, I say be remembered for being absolutely last! I do apologize for the tardiness of this goal being fulfilled, certainly no one deserves more birthday wishes and toasts and loving energy than you do, Wren.

I think I encountered you from the get-go when I first arrived, and in every day, in every way, you have been a wonderful and constant presence here. I love it when you post about your treks with your pups. Some people would consider it mundane, or even a nuisance, to load up two energy-filled four-legged adventurers and travel up the mountains and through the woods. You find beauty and magic and peace and contemplation and humor in your walks, and they are a joy to read. As are your many heart-felt and sincere posts. Mostly I am grateful that you are able to share your heart and wisdom with so many here, crack a joke, bring a smile, divine the truth, and be bare with your feelings and vulnerabilities in a way that makes other people feel like they are not alone or freaks. And your commitment to this site and how it is taken care of is a reward we all share.

For your birthday I wish you a year of good health and vitality; prosperity and happiness and love; success at work and in your health goals; great powers of patience and humility in taming your doggies; much comfort and support for any rough time that blows through; and over all a blessing of positive and joyful energies to return to you in some small measure the great blessings you have given out to others.
