1: The Song of Wandering Aengus by William Butler Yeats

I enjoyed this poem more and more with repeated readings. I love the imagery, and the way the poet expresses a sort of yputhful excitement, which then shifts to the weariness of an old man, looking back upon his life with longing, and hoping to relive it…

    A few favorite lines:

“And when white moths were on the wing,
And moth-like stars were flickering out,
I dropped the berry in a stream”

“And some one called me by my name:
It had become a glimmering girl
With apple blossom in her hair”

2: The Listeners BY Walter De La Mare

This poem reminds me of walking by flushing meadows, feeling so alone in a city of millions, though the cars still travel along the parkway next to me. It’s like, everyone is there, but the fact that I’m walking alone can allow me peace.

    favorite lines:

“But only a host of phantom listeners
That dwelt in the lone house then
Stood listening in the quiet of the moonlight
To that voice from the world of men”

3: Inversnaid by Gerard Manley Hopkins

Nothing particularly touched me, or stood out to me from this poem, but I still enjoyed it.
