I really want to listen to opera while I’m working (I work in a bar). I’m going to try tonight as its my last shift and monday nights are quiet. The bar is an old church so it should sound amazing.

I’ve watched 9 operas on DVD or video since listing this as a goal. I’m aiming for 20 by the end of 2006! I’m obviously finding that WATCHING them is better than pure listening at the moment… I think once I’ve seen a few (and know the storyline & a bit of staging), I’ll find listening much more rewarding!
Yaaaay!!

...borrowing opera videos from Uni. Yay! So far I’ve watched Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice (Italian) and Orfee et Euridice (French), Act 1 of Idomeneo & the first few scenes of Hansel und Gretel.
I have no time for watching TV or anything at the moment, so am squeezing in an Act (or even just a couple of scenes) when I sit down for a half hour after work – or if I need to “steam my head” before singing practice – or any odd bit of time, really…

I listened to a GREAT Wagner’s Die Walkure (with an umlaut!) on classical radio – got the score up online to read through with it an’ everything!
More of THIS kind of listening!

I know startlingly few operas. I know the ones I’ve sung in, but not many more than that. This is something I MUST start to remedy!
