set up my printer

It’s not worth it for me to mess with it since I get better photo prints from the store and I can print anything else at school. Now it’s out of my way and I’m finished thinking about it!

My oldest son is 8, and now has his own blog. I want him to be able to scan in pictures and resize them to upload to his blog postings. So I need to setup our wireless printer on the computer he uses.

He’s a great artist, I want to encourage him to start publishing at an early age!

It’s really easy to do when your husband does it while you’re at work! But, hey, now I can print all my pictures!

I should have done this a year ago, right after my sister gave me printer. What a slacker I am!

What kicked my butt was that I got an unexpected e-mail from one of the arts and theatre groups that “junk mail” me. It more or less said something like “Hey Kids! We’re gonna put on a show! No experience necessary. We’re looking for new talent.”

I haven’t done any acting in twenty years, but something clicked. So I had to scramble to set up my printer so I could print up an ad hoc resume.

The time I used to set up the printer included cleaning up the floor underneath, figuring out where to place the printer, unhooking and hooking back all the different wires, rearranging all my computer desk tchotkes, reading only the relevant instructions from the HP disc, and figuring out how to set up the printer and how to get it working. Along the way, I finally set up my speakers. Now, I have to figure out how to get my speakers to work!

So glad I got this done. Now I can print out stuff for almost free in the privacy of my own home without trudging out to Koreatown (a different neighborhood)! Among other things, I absolutely must print out all my Police concert tickets!

are ridiculous! I went to an electronics shop to buy a cartridge today and it was £25! I’m definitely going to shop around before buying, but I’m not keen on refilled cartridges as I used to work for the technical support of Lexmark and saw what they can do to a printer… They can cause all sorts of melting, plus you’re warranty is gone once you put in a refilled cartridge. And the sellers of the refill cartridges know this – they’re just after you’re money like everyone else.

..spitting and swearing at my printer. The paper was loading wonky, and piece after piece was crumpling up and stalling and jamming, and me with a huuuuge project to hand in tomorrow. After about 20 pieces – and all the while my environmental credentials disappearing down the plughole – I called Lucyann in, and she spat and swore at it for a while. Troubleshooting said the cartridge was stalling and to check it was in place. I did, and still it scrunched up paper. Then it said the carrier, whatever that is, was obstructed, and to open up the printer and see. I did, and it wasn’t. I kept trying. About 20 more sheets later, I got right down on the floor and peered right into it and thought I glimpsed something shiny and plastic jammed in a groove.

I got out my Tweezermans and pulled out a strip of cigarette filters, the kind that go in rollies. Gah! Smoking really does raise your blood pressure.

I wish I could just email my projects in.

It’s sitting here I bought the USB Cable since my mother lost my other one and I all I do is come home and look at. It wont take any time to do it.
I’m going to try and get it done this weekend.
I just picked it up from the other house and I’ve had my computer 2 months.
