Well, at least in my world i've seen the end of reality TV 2 years ago

I was going to give up on this goal because I realized that nothing I can do will change mainstream society unless I make it my life goal to eliminate reality TV. I could become a lobbyist and veimently oppose reality TV, go on talk shows about it, start a podcast, a website, raise public awareness of our utter pathetic existence if all we’re worried about is reality TV shows, and the whole 9 yards – but I’m sorry – I have better things to do with my life. (check them out on my 43 things list!)

So I was going to give up, but then I found out 43 Things keeps track of what goals you give up on! And I’m not a quitter! So I decided to still meet this goal relative to my own life. Besides, I was maxed out with 43 things on my list, and I wanted to add more important things… so this one had to either be given up or done. So I just did it. Bang. Done. Reality TV is no more in my life.

How? Very simple. I don’t watch TV at all anymore. And now I have seen the end of reality TV in my own life. And if that’s all I can do, that’s better than nothing. At least there’s one less smuck watching this garbage. Never did like wasting hours of my time doing nothing productive. TV rots your brain. Get up and do something! Like pick better things to do on your list for starters!

As of right now, I think reality TV has the upper hand.

There is a show 3 years ago

There is actually a show that has parents picking out two different dates for their son or daughter because they do not like the current boy/girlfriend. The son/daughter goes out with both while the parents and current boy/girlfriend watch on camera. This is actually one of the lesser offensive shows being offered.

I could go on and on about different reality shows. I truly believe they will eventually run their course and surely we will see their demise.

The benefits of all this is that fact that between the hours I work and yard work, gardening, etc. I don’t have much time for trash TV. In fact, I find myself watching less TV all together.

Unfortunately, I am giving up on this goal, because I think that this garbage has infused itself into our society to a point that it will be here for quite a while. It is rather unfortunate.

The morality of the population has degraded to the point that they find it fulfilling to watch other people disgrace themselves and do foul things all for the sake of money.

    It is truly sad!

I watched a television show about Reality Shows a while back, and it came to light that the first commercial TV program was a reality show, of sorts . . . Truth or Concequences. You were seeing people in real situations, reacting in their own way. No scripting. Oh, well.

It’s just that none of these reality shows will stand the test of time. You watch one once, with no need to watch again. It’s not timeless, and it’s so contrived. It’s driving me crazy to flip through the channels, and the only things on TV are these reality type of shows. How did this come to be?

Reality TV show for reality TV shows … 4 years ago

I have an idea. Why don’t they have a reality television show that has all of the reality television shows represented. Each week on an episode, the viewers can call and vote on which reality TV show is cancelled form the airwaves.

By the time the show is over, only one would be standing. Yes, we would still have reality TV, but at least it would only be one show at that point and not the 15 or 20 that we have now. :)

Just when you think it might be slowing down, one of the networks comes out with four or five new reality television shows. This is really getting out of hand.

Someone should go to Iraq, film some of the stuff going on over there and show it in prime time. Now THAT is reality TV!

I say it at work all the time to people… All reality shows should be banned from television. Period. End of discussion.
