buy a dishwasher

My plan to get a countertop dishwasher was shot down. My parents, who own my place, thought it would be better to get a full sized dishwasher, especially since there is a spot for it under the counter, plus it will be an asset to the house for whenever the time comes that they want to sell. My boyfriend also talked me into getting the full size because his friend who is a plumber could install it for free. So that’s what happened. I got a great deal because I wound up spending less than I would have if I got the countertop. I got my dishwasher for $388 which included the taxes and delivery, my mom gave me $150 towards it, and I got it installed, and also the cabinet ripped out for free. Can’t beat that. Now I’m saving a lot of time by not having to slave over dishes, and losing a little cabinet and drawer space isn’t too bad because I reorganized all my space and threw out things I don’t need, for instance, I no longer have a junk drawer. My junk drawer is now the knife drawer! So yay! This is a huge achievement!

I think this goal will be easiest to meet if I get a portable, countertop dishwasher. I found a website that specializes in compact appliances and found a couple compact countertop dishwashers that can be hooked up to the sink. They are under $200. I do have a spot for it on my counter right next to my sink. It’s just me here, so I don’t REALLY need a standard size dishwasher. It would be a huge project if I got one anyway, because that would mean having someone take out of my cabinet space and install the dishwasher. I have no patience for that and I don’t want to lose cabinet space anyway…

I really need a dishwasher. I’ve been living in this place for 8 years this month without one. I miss the days of hiding all the dirty dishes in the dishwasher until it was full enough to turn on. It’s such a timesaver. I must invest in one.

So, I’ll just clear this spot for something I really want to do. Might as well save the $400 for something else. :)
