Hopefully next year. 3 years ago

I took a new job and couldn’t make the conference this year. It sounded awesome. Next year I’m there…

I am going to Etech. See.

Woo! Got permission from my boss to go this year! I’m all registered. Hurrah!

I really want to go this year, but I am a very poor graduate student and plane fare and conference registration (even with the discount) will kill me. Any ideas for alternative accomodations that won’t cost me $100+/night?

It was way too hard keeping up with ETech this year. Far too much info came my way from blogs, Feedster, PubSub, Technorati, Flickr, and IRC. I couldn’t focus on any of it (and I’ve got this thing called a day job that interfered, greatly.) I’ll likely spend some of my evenings playing catch-up on the conference analysis.

Perhaps next year I’ll attend in person. Wish they would consider moving it to San Francisco or, dare I say, Seattle!

So I just found out my boss is on a secret mission in Los Angeles, where ETech is currently in full swing, however, he’s there to terminate one of guys in my group so it’s just as well I’m not there.

Scratch that. ETech is in San Diego. Close enough…

I’m lurking on the freenode backchannel (#etech) and peeking at the pics on Flickr while I get some real work done.

In five days the fun begins. For those of us in virtual attendance IT Conversations will be podcasting the event. No telling how quickly the ‘casts will be posted after record time. Gee, this could be the first time I’d actually listen to a podcast. I still don’t get it.

Also, a Feedster watch on “etech” is getting more interesting. Things are heating up. And this PubSub feed is turning up interesting stuff. YMMV.

Need a roommate for the upcoming conference... 4 years ago

I’ve booked a double room for the nights of the 14th, 15th, and 16th of March at a Sheraton about a mile from the conference. I’m paying $159/night plus tax (which is better than the $350+ at the closer hotel). Ideally, I’d like to find someone to share the room with, or, alternatively, find a room that I could crash at (I don’t mind sleeping on the floor). I can cancel the room up until the 13th, so definitely let me know if anyone thinks they can help.
