Had an errand to run at the pet store, so I turned it into an adventure today for my son and I. He was thrilled with looking at the fish and snakes, and even caught a loose cricket and put it back in the cricket bin thinking he had “saved it from death.” Little did he know the rest of the fate of those crickets in the bin…but I’ll let him be hero for the day!

Spent quite a bit of time with son today…made homemade lemonade for the lemonade goal (he squeezed most of the lemons and loved it!) and we built a castle in the back yard out of giant legos. We also celebrated my grandmother’s 90th birthday, and he enjoyed spending a few hours this afternoon with the great grandparents on the waterfront.

I think between all the outings, excursions, and special attention, I definitely met this goal for today!

This afternoon my son and I packed his lunches for tomorrow. He wanted lunchables, so I compromised with a homemade Bento box pizza “lunchable.” He put on his chef’s hat and apron from Pampered Chef, and we whipped up some simple pizza dough, rolled it out and cut it into little pizza rectangles. He had fun playing chef and building his own lunch for tomorrow!

guess we will have to think of another fun activity today! Maybe board games since I am not moving too fast!

Spent some time with my son working on his seed project for school tonight. We used an egg carton, and filled up all 12 egg wells with different kinds of seeds he chose, and he wrote the names of the seeds out on a homemade identification map. We were doing really good…he put in beans, marigolds, snapdragons, corn, apple, sunflower, cucumber, zucchini, pea, cashews, peanuts..
..and then when we were almost done, insisted that he put some Jelly Bellies into the last spot and proudly wrote “Jelly Bean Bush.” He knew he was being silly….but who was I to stop him? He doesn’t get graded on this thing, so a little creativity and 6-yr-old humor never hurts. Besides, this is the second year he has done this project!

Forgot to update this…my son was intrigued with hubby and my recent date, so he said he wanted to have a date with me so we made it an at home dinner date with special food. He chose the salmon and artichokes. It was quite fun, and although in the end he admitted he really wasn’t a fan of the artichokes, he still ate half of it. When hubby came home my son proudly told him “me and mom had a dinner date!” Quite fun!

Well, we bought a lazy easter egg kit this year that came with premixed colors, and little paint brushes and a egg holder. Relatively mess free. Last night I boiled up some eggs, and this morning we painted them. The kiddo had a blast.
He was also thrilled to see our Fontanini tomb this morning that the stone had indeed been rolled away, a soft glow of the light was lit from inside, and the Jesus “action figure” was out and about! Alleluia! He is Risen!

Spent some time with my son tonight doing a plaster hand print project. We have a dozen other plaster handprints from the last few years from school, but for Christmas, he got a kit from Great Grandma that can be painted….so…tonight we pressed the clay into the mold and then poured the plaster. Messy, but it should be interesting! We will see how it turns out!
