I took a class 27 years ago and did oxy-acetylene. I intend to have my dad teach me electric-arc welding this summer up at our cabin in NM.

How I did it: I was a business major in College, but stepped outside my usual classes to dip into some AGRI classes and took welding. It was a lot of fun and fairly easy to learn, with all the equipment provided. Read how I did it…
How I did it: Sculpture class in college. I focused on arc welding for several projects. My favorite one was a 5 foot cube that had fallen leaves hanging on four sides. The cube would move and swing if pushed, and the leaves would sway in independent chains. First geared up with my safety equipment, cut 12 each 5 foot steel bars, then fired up the class arc welder. The hardest part is seeing where you're welding when you s… Read how I did it…
How I did it: If you live in Nor. Cal and really would like to dive into welding... There are so many possibilities! All you need is a bit of time, patience, elbow grease, perserverance, and good company. I was blessed while browsing Craigs List I came across a little gig asking for extra hands in helping for a Burning Man Project, in return the group requesting the help would teach whatever skills necessary to get te project done. Little did I know un… Read how I did it…

Learned arc welding in sculpture class at college. Made some really cool things which were too large to save. Didn’t have digital camera back then, so no pix, and I wish I had the equipment, money, and space to do this again.
MissJanae is setting goals!
This is on my life skills list and I want my uncle to teach me how when I move back home.
I think it would be fun and valuable to learn.
I should also probably build something through welding too.

What a great way to use metal bits. Make big giant sculptures. I have a friend that welds, perhaps he can help.
Sam took me to the shop a couple of nights ago and taught me how to weld. I guess i did well for being given very little instruction and it be around 2 am. I want to get better though. Not sure when i’ll have the opportunity to practice but i guess we’ll see.
I enjoy making art…I am an artist, and one of my strong characteristics that define who I am, are my artistic abilities and creativity. I would love to expand this by learning to weld! There are so many things I could do and make if I could learn this. I am into metal yard art…and that would be the first thing I would make! I love saguaro cactus’, so that would be my first attempt! I live within 100yrds of a privately owned welding shop. I just need to work up the nerve to go and ask if I can watch someday! One thing that holds me back is knowing that it can be dangerous…I don’t like to get burned and I don’t want to harm my vision! I am a mix of a girly-girl/ tough tom boy type…so sometimes the two personalities fight each other and leave me unsure about what to do. I know that by the time I am 50, and I am not too worried about my looks, I sure hope I have done this by then!
crystalz Brick walls are there to let us prove how badly we want things.
I took classes through a local community college and learned how to arc weld, tig weld and oxy-acetelyn weld. It takes a lot of practice since it’s partially about technical knowledge and mostly about hand-eye coordination.
i would love to learn how to this trade. Just for all the person benefits- i could make so many useful things. I have access to everything i would need, and someone to show me how to use it, i just need to make time for such experimentation. i really wanted to learn before summer ended.
shockwav feeling better than ever
Waddya know, it works and it’s not major money to get started. Not as good as MIG, but it’s a start.
