So in keeping with the fish thing 16 months ago

I ate Salmon for the first time last night. People say that it is a pretty “fishy” fish. But I just ate a little bite off my hubby’s plate and I have to say it wasn’t bad. I did get a little nauseous after but I know that was all in my head. So maybe soon I will be brave enough to eat my own!

Does fish count? 16 months ago

Not even close hu? Well I only ask because the whole point of this goal is really to step outside of my comfortable place with food. To try something new and different. And as odd as it may sound I am pretty afraid of fish and lately I have been thinking I might try some haddock. I have heard it is a tasty, good for you fish. I am just trying to decide if I want to try to cook it myself or go to a restaurant and try some. Any suggestions or easy recipes?

I’m now a vegetarian, unless I have the opportunity to try a new exotic food containing meat that I’ve never had before… that’s the one exception! :) BUT before I went veg, I had alligator, and it was fairly tasty. Kind of like rubbery fish-chicken. The best place to get it is at a little shack in Tennessee called Manuel’s. Good luck finding it, because it’s essentially a little wooden house in the middle of nowhere!

tasty, but not filling... 2 years ago

It’s pretty good, sort of like fishy-chicken, but not much meat comes on it. Get it deep-fried, with some friends. Dip it in ketchup or tartar sauce. :)

By the way, I never had the opportunity to eat it in Louisiana… I had it in Florida.

    SO CLOSE. 2 years ago

What’s frustrating is that when we went to Louisiana over the summer, Jamie and I were SURE we’d be able to complete this goal. The prospect was quite exciting. However, after a fantastic week (in which we saw several alligators and even held a baby one), we hadn’t done it yet. So on the last night, when the group was going out to eat, we begged and begged the leaders to take us to a place that served alligator. Wouldn’t you think it would be everywhere? But no, they chose the one restaurant that didn’t. Quelle dommage! Needless to say, we were extremely disappointed.
