I had mine yanked 3 hours ago. Oh, the pain.
How I did it: I had my wonky wisdom tooth out under local anaesthetic only, and it was a breeze. It took about an hour, but it felt much quicker than that, and all I felt was a bit of tugging. It just feels as though someone's pushing on your jaw from inside, not painful at all. Stitching up felt like more gentle pulling, but again, no pain.Afterwards, there was dull throbbing where the tooth was taken out for about a week, and opening my jaw was sore … Read how I did it…
How I did it: I made an appointment during my winter break from law school because I didn't want to deal with going to class all drugged up and in pain. The actual procedure only took 45 minutes and my surgeon had prescribed valium for me to take beforehand so absolutely nothing phased me. I walked in, sat down, was led to the actual "operating room" (which turned out to be merely a regular dentist's office with more equipment, like an oxygen machine, … Read how I did it…
I’ve had the referral to get my wisdom teeth out for roughly three and a half years but I just kept putting it off because I felt like I didn’t have the time with uni and work. Now I have the time (but not really the money) and one of my wisdom teeth is starting to poke through. If I don’t get this done asap, it will ruin all those years of orthodontics!
Called around this morning and got an appointment with an oral surgeon out on Dale Mabry for the 15th at 215pm. Thats immediately after the office Christmas party, and the day before Chris goes in for her gastric bypass surgery. Pretty soon the entire office will be out having some surgery or other. Haha.
Anyway, they need to do some xrays and such, and then they’ll schedule the actual surgery from there. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that they’ll have time to do it before the holidays. I’d hate to miss the Silly String Fight because of my teeth…
This needs to happen pretty soon. I have a pretty high tolerance for pain (broke my pelvis and still made it to school the next day) but the bottom right tooth has been giving me trouble for awhile now, and this week my jaw swelled and hurt so bad I had to call off work last night. Enough is enough. I’m contacting my insurance provider and finding an oral surgeon, and I mean NOW!
:)
My xray is done and paid for. Now I’m waiting for my schedule for next week’s work so I can make a couple of appointments for consultations with oral surgeons next week or the week after. I want to get this done! Especially while I’m still covered on my parent’s insurance and living at home and can take off time from work very easily.
I have a dentist appointment in two weeks and I’m going to have a panoramic xray done and then make some appointments for a couple of oral surgeons. I’d like to meet them and go with the one I’m most comfortable with. I’m mostly worried about nerve damage.

I was with my cousin when she had hers out, and it didn’t look very fun. Also, I think my dentist might be crazy.
What the heck was I waiting for?
2 weeks of pain afterward but I’m so glad they’re gone.
I had 5 wisdom teeth. Not even kiddding. Two had grown in one spot. I was totally knocked out and then I ate that same night. It wasn’t bad AT ALL. Don’t be worried if you have to do it.
