visit the beaches of Normandy

This was completely amazing. It was one of those experiences that’s hard to even put into words. The beauty of the place and knowing what happened there just is a cause for such reverance and respect. At Pointe du Hoc, there’s still gigantic impressions and craters from where the Allied bombers hit. The American Cemetery is something to behold, most definitely. Each soldier there is buried in such a way that if you were to stand them up on their feet, they’d be facing the United States. I highly recommend this to anyone and everyone wishing to go. I took the Cityrama tours from their offices just outside the Louvre. The whole trip took 14 hours, and while we didn’t get lots of time at each site, it was well worth it.

May 26th! Actually I’m taking a 14 hour tour on May 29th. I AM SO EXCITED. I was hoping to see them on Memorial Day, which would have been really awesome, but they’re closed on that Monday. Last time I was in Paris, I tried to navigate myself to the beaches with just a map and some Euros. Despite being stranded in Bayeux for a few hours and coming so close, but not actually getting to the beaches, I had a lot of fun – it was like Amazing Race before there was an Amazing Race.

I had a sub once bring in a Photo Album of a trip that she and her husband had taken to visit the beaches of Normandy, and i was amazed..so amazed i started crying..My grandfather was part of the Invasion of Normandy, but he refuses to talk about anything that has anything to do with WWII, wich saddens me, but in a way i understand why he dosnt want to talk about it, but one day i will visit this place and im sure it will blow my mind…
