I also saw the lunar eclipse last week. I had to get up at 2:45am, and then I went to the local park. Humorously, I took some pics of it, none of which actually came out for obvious reasons. 13 months ago

sooo happy i got the chance to do this – especially since there won’t be another during the start of the winter solstice in my lifetime…awesome. 13 months ago

Foole is at last living the artful lifeWell the last time this particular eclipse occurred

was sometime back in the 1600’s, so absolutely, Mr.CT and I had to watch it. It was cold with just a slight haze of cloud. We could see it just fine. In our neck of the woods, we could see a halo around it. Scientific….reflections on ice crystals in the upper atmosphere. Fanciful superstition…..good omens, but be careful, fairies are about. We watched to the point of full eclipse, then called it a night. Those that kept watch later, saw the red moon. More superstition. Blood on the moon..omen of war or violence. I didn’t see it, so it ain’t going to happen. What we saw was magical.

Mr.CT had a monacular. Not quite a telescope, but did assist greatly in seeing details. While he was looking, his cap fell off. Now, ya know he’s bald. “Ya wanna look now?” “No, I’ve got a view of a perfect reflection.” “Oh Yeah? Where” ” You’re head.”

I was bad. I got a spanking. 13 months ago

Did this on Feb 20, 2008 with the rest of the world. My mom and I kept going outside at the various stages. I took pictures which really didn’t turn out, but it was still amazing. 3 years ago

The total lunar eclipse was fantastic last night! We had a +/- 45min window where we had a clear view until the clouds came over. It was a gorgeous sight to see a full red moon with Saturn and Regulus on either side of it. 3 years ago

SiejenWitnessing a Total Lunar Eclipse in NYC (SE Corner of 86th St. & 2nd Ave.) - Wed. Feb. 20, 2008

My evening in the Big Apple had kicked off with a Lunar New Year’s Celebration hosted by Mayor Bloomberg at Gracie Mansion. After the celebration, I had sushi with my college friend, Roslyn, on the UES.

As I decided to head home by hopping on the 4/5 “green express” subway downtown, I was reminded by an older man passing in the opposite direction to stop and take a look at the “Total Lunar Eclipse” that was occurring in the Big Open Sky on a clear night in the Big Apple. I stopped in my tracks and turned around (“East”) to look at the Total Lunar Eclipse that was happening before my very eyes. I continued my journey along 86th St. when I was again stopped by Judy and her new acquaintances Doris and Joanie G from Kings Pt. who I might add are also Obama fans! Judy was so enthusiastic and tried to stop every passerby in their tracks, making sure that no one missed this incredible event. I congregated and stood on the corner of 86th St. & 2nd Ave. with a group of other New Yorkers watching the Full Moon rotate into the earth’s shadow becoming a lil ball suspended in the middle of the universe. What an amazing sight to witness in this great city! I will now have to wait till December 20, 2010 to witness the next Total Lunar Eclipse. 3 years ago
