Just herbs for now 1 week ago

I live in an appartment, so space is at a minimum. My front windows get great sun though, so I’m growing potted herbs there and putting them on most everything I cook. So far I’ve got basil, parsley, and lavender growing beautifully and a cilantro plant that’s struggling bravely along.

    Harvest! 4 weeks ago

i picked my carrots and beats today, sadly the beets were all about the size of a nickle.. don’t know what happened. but the carrots came out great! the picture is of the largest carrots, there were about 50 more tinier ones and malformed ones that i’m going to juice or can.

I’ve started growing my own veg, so far I’m growing potatoes, beans, tomatoes and a nice fat juicy marrow! I can’t wait to harvest them and taste my efforts :)

I’ve completely given up on this, the only thing I’ve managed not to kill, is the aloe plant I bought, which was already grown when I bought it.

I think I’m going to hold off on trying anymore until next year.

It’s going to be 100 degrees today, so I gave the tomatoes and leeks a good healthy soaking this morning. So far the only red tomato I’ve seen was eaten by our wild rabbits. Cute, but not what I’d intended. The peas earlier were super as were the onions!

I'm planning on it 2 months ago

I want to grow vegetables and fruit in my yard next year. I’m already planning it – and I can’t wait to get rid of my lawn.

back to basic 2 months ago

I would like to grow fruits and vegies. I would like to then eat them versus having to buy them at the store. I have missed most of this year’s planting season, but here is to next year.

This seemed like a lofty goal. It still kind of does, but it was pointed out to me that we harvested peas and onions early in the season and I have vines full of green tomatoes and leeks that are almost ready to be pulled up. I have felt like I wasn’t achieving this because so many things didn’t make it. Lost sight of the ones that did!

Tomatoes! Basil!! I killed them both…. I wish I had inherited my Grandma’s green thumb. Instead I got my mother’s black one.

Nanny would be telling me how “thirsty” my plants looked…

The container garden... 3 months ago

I’ve purchased pots and now have three bell pepper plants, two tomato plants, a strawberry plant, a cucumber plant, one banana pepper, and a bunch of herbs.

Oh, and my daughter is growing three sunflowers.
