I do feel great that I have seen so much theatre in the past year…and I’m going to do more. Thanks, 43things and 43thingers!

So: I’ve gone to 12 play/performances since January 2007. Dig it: mission accomplished!
So…no donation to the Party That Will Not Be Named.
But: I might get myself a theatre subscription to celebrate!

Very excited. It stars Kevin Chamberlain (he was one of the bad guys in “Heroes” this season) and Rosie Perez.
That will make play 12! 12 in leas than 12 months!

I also saw, with my friend Cathy, the wonderful punk, lesbian, Texan, talented singer/songwriter Gretchen Phillips in a reading of her show “Don’t Stop Believing,” at the gloriously downtown venue Dixon Place (no theatre seats, all comfy chairs and couches). She was charismatic and channeled Barry White.
Yay!

But we saw the delightful “Avenue Q” on Sunday, which Jeff had already seen once. (I got vertigo the day I was supposed to see it!) It’s sort of “Sesame Street” crossed with “South Park,” aka cheerfully profane.
What I loved about it was…it’s been running for years, this was a Sunday matinee performance, and they could have slacked but they didn’t. The mixture of live actors and puppets is actually mesmerizing. And it’s mucho singable.

saw it this week with an old pal, starring Michael Sheen (Tony Blair in “The Queen”) and Frank Langella. Complex, lovely, imperfect.
It made me sad, actually.

Saw this on Saturday with my friend Rachel—it’s a performance piece by and about pomo porn princess Annie Sprinkle, and her lover, professor Elizabeth Stephens…saucy, sassy, sexy and lots of fun!
