So I’ve been a permanent resident since April 2001.

In April 2006 I applied for citizenship.

In June I received a letter saying it would be 12-15 months before I heard from them again.

This week I received a letter saying, “Hi. Your citizenship test is in a week. Good luck!”

Augh! Only a week to study! frantic

I received a “conditional letter of acceptance” for permanent residency in March, which asked me to obtain one more piece of documentation to complete my application (a police certificate I had previously been told I didn’t need). I finally got it a few weeks ago and mailed it off.

With that letter, I was put on a three month waiting period for a health card, and last week I received it. I officially have provincial health insurance (OHIP) now.

My permanent residency status should be official by the end of summer, I think.

my boyfriend is from montreal and I live 21 hours away in the united states. I’ve travelled once by bus, which was hell, and this next time I’m driving there myself. I’ve been discussing with him how I’ve wanted to get my canadian citizenship to live there and work there. I’m so worried about it because I keep thinking that it’s more difficult than it seems. I don’t know much about the process either. I’ve read all the information online and that’s fine and everything but I want to know more about it from someone who has gone through the same thing. I just want reassurance so I’m not so paranoid about this. it’s become something so stressful for us to discuss because I start to think that this is going to be so hard that I’m going to eventually quit. I want to be with him so bad and the only thing is that he’s got a job that I don’t want him to lose, so I can’t just make him get up and move here. although I’d like to. but that’s selfish. I don’t know, I’m probably over analyzing the whole situation. :(

Maybe you should reallllly focus on this so you can bypass the immigration line when you get off your butt and visit you brother !!! GO LEAFS !!!

Now the waiting and nail-biting begins.
