Can I work 60 hours a week? – actual production time not just thinking about work or doing maintanance stuff.
I like the idea of switching to a 10 day work week since I work some weekends and since I need money on a monthly basis and figuring out things on a 4.2 week basis is odd.
It would be 80 hours every 10 days. Which is 8 – 10 hour days and 2 days off. I generally only like to take half days off though so probably 2 – 5 hour days/ 7 – 10 hour days and 1 day off, for household chores and such.
i had my first full day of fun in many many months this last saturday. It was really nice. I look forward to doing that every few months.
time to launch out on my own. called in quits with the doctor. brought in 2300 bucks last month but barely kept my sanity due to the doctor going through drug addiction fits and therefore being outragious. He has been a jerk many times before but I put up with it so that I could be sure to pay my bills. It’s a long story but basically he has gone to far and I gave him my resignation. So now I need a strong plan for making my money this month and next month, and on and on.
Art – set up 10 prints this week.
Art – post 2 original pieces for sale this week.
Real Estate – create a list of potential brokers.
Real Estate – ask for letters of recommendation from my 2 real estate teachers
Research – email company to ask if they want data analysis.
Authorship – finish the basic recipies
Authorship / Art – in the next two weeks, finish formating 2005 art book.
Authorship / art – send copy to printer by the end of the month.
Art – send mailing list info about new art book.
clean and press uniform/ suit
start art marketing with google
art marketing article on blog
add feng shui for wealth and success.
All of this, I give myself 10 days to accomplish.
these are the 7 things i can do to make more money followed by at least one idea that I will try in every category.
1. Introduce new products and innovate
- new products – cucculents and cacti.
- new products – continue to add more art prints
2. Add new user-end customers.
- I will spend at least $5 a month advertising online for at least 3 months.
3. sell new applications of existing products to current customers
- I will impliment my idea for free gifting sales and extended warranties.
4. reduce customer attrition.
- encourage customers to continue being customers by sending regular catalog updates. Perhaps scheldule all my auctions and send notices of the auctions ahead of time. Do this through snail mail and through email.
5. Raise prices
- I did raise prices in my part time job and I am SOOOOOO happy that I did. i don’t think I can raise prices for original artwork or for the prints.
6. Light candles and pray that market demand rises.
- I have some meditation incense and I will light it as soon as I find a lighter.
7. Acquire companies.
- hmm, buy companies, I don’t know about that one. What about just starting a new company that competes with the old company?
I am not even a little close to making this goal. Last month I had my best turn out and made 1,100 bucks. I also had an offer to do a complete garden and soil restoration on a friends house for 500 bucks. I’ll start that this next week and probably get paid by the end of the project (1 month). I also think that I will get a decent amount this next month for my job since I have already earned 150 and the first week isn’t even over and i know I will have a trip where I will earn a full days work 8 hours which is 200 for at least 450 most likely. not bad. I have not made any money with my residual sales. Well at some point I made 9 bucks on a t-shirt but they only pay out at 25 bucks so there is no pay out yet.
I also have been taking a break from my ebay art business. I worked real hard on setting up an ebay store and new html templates and all and I got absolutely NO response. I was paying ebay to sell my stuff at below cost – just nuts. So I canceled the store and have now been emotionally getting ready to try again. no store, and no fancy template. Just the basics. My art sells alright, it is just that sometimes I hate to see something go unsold. i don’t know the market seasons well enough yet. Well I guess I’ll get back to work.
Besides the fact that I enjoy art, I also like art as a business because theoretically I completely control the product. The profit margin is pretty high also. With 2 dollars of materials and a lifetime of creating I can make 25 bucks or so. Theoretically I can also make a couple bucks on prints of my art on posters and other products. (still theoretically though) I think I have taken enough of a break and now i will get back to work. posting 1 original art work or print every day. Back to work I go.
ok, I know everyone in the whole world makes more money than me, but I have made $725 bucks this first half of the year. NICE! That means that I will have at least $375 to save (after I pay my basic bills I split the remaining money and save half and spend half), use towards buying the much needed business outfit, starting my realestate career, and buying gardening stuff – seeds, compost etc.
I would like to spend no more than 60 bucks on a suit. (thrift or discount store)
Gardening – maybe 100 bucks
Business – $100
If I want to do all this I need to make $845 before the end of the month. which is 120 more. (5 hours of work) – no problem. I am scheduled for one more hour of work today and 2 hours tomorrow. and at least 1 on friday. so I will be able to do all this and save $260 Looking at these numbers it would be nice to save $300 or maybe more.
actually- now that I am thinking about it, the next thing I need to save up money for is for a car to get to work. (today I took the bus and it is icy cold outside) Instead of saving up the money and then giving it to my girlfriend for her car I could pay her a monthly amount as I go. I would like to put the money directly on her car loan.
so I prepared a schedule and I didn’t follow through. I figure I need to spend 60 hours a week earning money. today I only spent 7 hours 30 mins. working. then I felt so tired I didn’t do anything. and it is still early. I may have to change my schedule if i can’t keep up with it. I will try to work another 2 1/2 hours so I have the 10 hours for the day
I intend to make my 100,000 with my business that I am starting. Well, actually I intend to have $100,000 pass through my hands. since I will have to give the government like 25% and I will have regular upkeep and overhead costs. I have been trying to start my business and really think about “what” it really “is”. heres the answer:
I am like a modern, younger, hipper, more independent and DIY niche, Martha Steward. – food, books, entertainment, art, music and web design. (I am not sure if I will keep the web design, I may just do it untill I don’t need to).
All of my departments.
Food – recipe creation
Books – non-fiction and perhaps public domain books (may cancel these later, after I have written enough books of my own)
Entertainment – game creation
Art – original paintings, prints of sold original paintings.art book printing)
Music – djing, and perhaps original art music.
Web design – simple html pages and ebay listing pages. (this is a side department really, eventually I will end this)
I also will eventually go into real estate. I am not sure exactly when I will do that. or exactly how it fits into my plan. I do now have a licience, though it is on inactive status untill I am ready to pull the trigger.
I took lots of my art to a coffee house gallery this month. They say they get 30 percent. I have no idea if they have sold any and I am a little scared to go and see.
I finally finished my new ebay template and organization and have changed maybe half of my store listings to the new format. It is a pain and I have lots more to do. This month I am losing money off of ebay since I have not really posted new items and the store stuff hasn’t been selling. Tomorrow I will finish all the conversions and finish taking pictures of the new art I have created.
I need to create a very exact accounting set up that gives me much more details than what I have now.
I also got my real estate license. I need to save up a few months of expenses before I start actively doing this.
I am also drumming up a little business on the side for web development. But that is clearly on the side.
