"My favorite books ever."

How I did it: I never had an interest in HP until a friend insisted I try the books out. I agreed to read the first one if he would read a book I recommended and imediately hit the library to check the book out.

I plowed through SS in a single day and found that I really enjoyed it, so much so that I immediately checked out the second book. Unfortunately I was busy with school at the time and only managed to read part of the book before it was due back.

From that point, finishing the series was on my to do list, but it remained that way for years and years. I was so set on doing it though that I avoided all spoilers and never saw any of the movies either.

Finally in 2008 I decided to become a substitute teacher. I was certain that some student would ruin the whole thing for me at some point, so I immediately set about reading the books. I managed to get through all 7 in about two months and I loved every single minute of it. There were often times I woke at 4 in the morning and couldn't go back to sleep because I wanted to be reading. The books are that good.

My only regret is that I didn't read the books earlier. I would have loved to be part of the fan culture, if only to experience the launch of DH with the world. If you find yourself feeling the same way after reading the books, I'd recommend reading Harry: A History by Melissa Anelli. She does a great job of explaining the rise of Potter and the fan experience over the years.

    I read the last book a few weeks ago, and it was epic and excellent. It was such a great experience to read the book and NOT be able to compare it to the movie version. I look forward to seeing the 7th and 8th movies!

    oh my god definatly my favourite in this series. could NOT stop crying every time someone died id be in floods of tears all over again. I love this book and ive finally finished the whole series. yay. wow i cant believe i read them all so fast. mm now im kinda lonely with no harry and nothing to read =[ heehee
