Blackie Nathaniel Knight: 1990-2006 3 years ago

For the past couple of weeks Blackie has been on a medication to reduce the size of the tumor in his bladder. He began to drastically lose weight and for the past few days he’s been extremely weak and unable to eat.

Yesterday we had to euthanize Blackie because his kidney disease worsened and the tumor in his bladder was blocking his urethra. The vet said that there was nothing we could do and it was obvious that he was in pain. He will be greatly missed.

Now I plan to volunteer at the Humane Society instead of becoming a foster mom, so this goal is officially dropped.

Little Blackie 3 years ago

My childhood cat Blackie has lost 8 lbs in the past few months so my sister and I took him to the vet for a long overdue checkup. Sadly, it looks like he has cancer in his bladder and we may have to put him to sleep in the next couple of months.

Thus, this goal of fostering animals for the Humane Society is officially on hold until we get the results of his bladder biopsy. Blackie is almost 16 years old so he has had a long and happy life, I only hope that my sister will be able to deal with his illness and inevitable passing.

Pound puppies & kittens 3 years ago

When I was in undergrad I used to volunteer for the Humane Society by letting puppies and kittens that were too young to be adopted live with me. They are eligible for adoption at eight weeks old, so I fostered two Boxer puppies for four weeks and three kittens for about two weeks. It was an extremely exhausting but fulfilling endeavor and I plan to start doing it again in the next few weeks. I can’t wait to post their adorable pictures!
