Remember names

I am so bad with names people might as well not introduce themselves to me. It’s not that im not paying attention, its that names just slip my mind right after they are said. I could recite a whole conversation back to myself but as soon as it comes to a name my mind draws a blank. It gets 100’s of times worse when i have been drinking. This Halloween i forgot one of my friends names and i have know her for 3 years. Its not that i have bad memory, i actually see myself as a person with a fairly good memory just no capacity for names i guess. heres to hoping for some improvement.

I suck at this so bad that I’ve given up! and people don’t hate me!? hmm, haha I’m gettin better now that I’ve realized though.

i don’t even hear them while they say their name!!!
when we meet again.
They know my name and say “Hi, B. ”
I say. “Oh, Hi.” and the nod and smile technique :)

I’m trying to figure out why I remember some names and not others. Is it because I secretly believe that knowing certain people’s names serves a purpose or is it because a name does not register if I meet someone?

Making a list of names. Making an effort.

I think just being aware of this “shortcoming” helps to turn it around. Already in one week I can see a diference. It means thinking more of others, and less of yourself. Being less immersed in your own thoughts, being more connected to those around you!

This is a skill i’m uncommonly good at. But sometimes it’s awkward when I remember someone’s name after a long time, but they don’t remember me…i kinda feel like some crazy stalker then.

I suck with names, i forget names easily. I have some people introduced to me say hi or call me from a far and i have no idea who they are. So for courtesy sake, i smile and say hello back.

.. or maybe my brain cells are starting to deteriorate at an early of 22. heheheh

Finally I know all the names of my students :)

Test: let’s see if I am also able to name them all without secretely looking them up…
