Go with a good guide service such as Alpine Ascents. The weather on Elbrus can turn nasty quickly. When it’s zero visibility and extremely cold, you want someone who KNOWS the way down.
The sanitation by the barrels and huts are the worst I have encountered anywhere in the world. Melting snow for drinking water is risky in many places.
The views from the top are worth all the hardship. See summitpost.com for more info and photos.
Climbing Mt Elbrus is a great step toward climbing other high peaks. The mountain is one of the easiest of the seven summits. Not technical or steep.
GO FOR IT!!!
