I really try and be less awkward and seem genuine, but it doesn’t roll smoothly off my sleeve sometimes. It’s ironic since my MBA focus eventually will be HR/management. But I always try and help guests since Google has the resources to accommodate them. Today a guest had been waiting 3 hrs for a meeting so I escorted her back to the break room after awhile to get some coffee. It’s my job—at the very least it makes it more interesting and fun for me :) Plus it’s rewarding.

A mother with her daughter came in the lobby this afternoon-it’s been a really hot day-and asked repeatedly for agua. Realizing that she needed water I hurried back to the break room and grabbed 2 cold bottles. She thanked me and left—-and that’s all I needed :)
It’s the little things that matter like seeing a tricky delivery through to the very end—-even escorting the delivery guy, helping him back up his truck, loading the pallet and finding a moving crew to get that 450lb stack to another room. Yay! At least I got some receptionist excitement :)
I’m in a customer service job right now at Google but every day, no matter how jaded or frustrated I might be, I always try to help people and go as above and beyond as I can. I hate the idea that I’m doing it to make myself seem like a saintly humanitarian—I just love knowing I made someone’s day better. I know how bad some bad days can get :)
I’ve been meeting once a week with another personal trainer to share ideas and exercises. I try to encourage her to expand her thinking and to push herself in order to better understand her clients. I really enjoy the time we spend together and I learn a lot from her as well. Hopefully we’re helping each other.
I work as a personal trainer, and I can’t tell you how rewarding it is to watch people improve. I see people who just need a little push, and those who have a long way to go, but most importantly I see them find hope in the changes they are going through. It’s an amazingly rewarding job.
This is one way that I try to help people every day.
The people who need help most seem to be the ones who won’t ask for it, or won’t notice or appreciate it when you do help them. But maybe it’s worth while to help them anyway.

Mainly stayed in bed and felt crappe. Oh no wait. I helped clean the house b/c a realtor was coming to show it to someone. Only they never showed.
