I’ve been trying to do this one every year for the past 10 years, at least. It’s just too overwhelming for me to start at this time of year when I’m always busy, and the program has become too rigid, especially the eating plan. I’m going to design my own SELF challenge, with a more reasonable and flexible fitness program (like they used to have), and an eating plan that is still healthy and low-calorie, but allows me to eat foods that I like, and on my bizarre schedule. 3 years ago

i’ve signed up for the 1st time. i am 5’6” and almost 130 lbs and i feel totally flabby these days. my belly is hanging over my pants…also i drink & smoke too much and i am 38 and too old for this behavior. 5 years ago

Well, after a half-assed attempt at the challenge, I lost a whopping 4 pounds. Better than nothing I guess. Im still going to try to follow the game plan of the challenge though, because even though I didnt really lose much weight I’ve been exercising much more, so thats good. 5 years ago

My goal was to have lost 10 pounds by today, and that didnt happen. I have lost 5 pounds, so thats not too bad. I have three weeks left of the challenge and hopefully I will have lost 10 by the end of it. I’m doing really well the with the cardio and strength part of the program, but when it comes to eating I’m not doing to well. This week I really want to keep my calories at about 1800 each day and drink lots and lots of water. 6 years ago

I did pretty good during week 6, yet I still didnt lose any weight. I did three days of cardio and three days of strength, I ate well 5 days and the other 2 not so great at all. My sisters graduation is next Sunday and afterwards we are going out to eat at a nice italian resturant so I hope I do really well with exercise and eating this week so that on Sunday I can just enjoy myself and not feel guilty. 6 years ago

Today I ate around 1750 calories, not bad. My goal was to eat only 1600 calories being that I wasnt very active today, but then I went to a friends house and she had chocolate covered cherries (I had two) and chocolate covered nuts and cranberries (I had a couple handfuls), they were all very delcious so oh well. I didnt really exercise today, but walked to work and waitressed for 5 hours. 6 years ago

Yesterday I did pretty good. I ate around 1600 calories, woohoo!, and even though I didn’t do cardio or strength I did walk to and from work, about 2 miles, plus I waitressed for 7 hours, so I was moving around a lot all day. Today was my boyfriends birthday so I ended up eating a bunch of cake and didnt really watch what I ate during the day either, so diet wise I did horrible, oops. I did do both cardio and strength today though, so thats good. My goal is to stay under 1800 each day for the rest of the week and to get some cardio in every day as well. 6 years ago

I did pretty well during week 5 of the challenge. The strength part has gone up to three times a week, but I only did it twice, but I did cardio 4 times when I only needed to do it 3, so it evens out I guess. Diet wise, I ate well 5 out of 7 days, whereas during month 1 I was only eating well on average 4 out of 7 days, so its an improvement. Over the weekend 2 people told me that I was looking thinner, and they didnt even know I was trying to lose weight, so that is very encouraging! Im hoping that this week I do all three days of strength plus at least 4 days of cardio, the weather looks like its going to stay nice for a while so it shouldnt be too hard to get outside and get some exercise. 6 years ago

I seem to do really well one day and then crappy the next, over and over again. Shit. Well after month 1 I lost 3.5 pounds, which isnt bad at all. After month 2 I would like to lose another 6 pounds, which shouldnt be to hard if I do a better job with the diet part of the challenge, which I really did half-assed the first month. Today I ate around 2000 calories, which is’nt horrible, and I did the strength workout. I planned on running a couple more times this week for cardio but it snowed so that may not happen, but I’ll figure out something to do instead. 6 years ago

Today I did pretty good. I ate aroudn 1800 calories a little more than I planned on but not bad. I did 38 minutes of cardio (walking 10, running 28), so that was good. I did a lot of cleaning today as well at my apartment so that was a good little workout as well. 6 years ago

Well yesterday I did quite good. I ate around 1700 calories and did 45 minutes or so of cardio, a mix of walking, jogging, intervals and walking up hills. Today I didnt do so great, I didnt get in any cardio or do a strength rountine but I did do a lot of walking thoughout the day so thats good. I didnt keep track of calories today but I know I went well over 2000, shit. I weighed myself this morning and Im still down 3 which is good, hopefully down four by the end of the week. 6 years ago

Today I didnt do that great when it came to eating, I ate around 2600 calories, oops. Instead of 35 minutes of cardio I did a mix of cardio and strength training, I also walked to and from work and waitressed for 7 hours. Today I ate around 2150 calories, more than I planned on, but I did get in my second strength routine of the week and I worked for 8 hours and was pretty active there. So overall I dont feel like I did horrible. 6 years ago

I was doing fine until this week. It has been a very busy and stressed week and then the stress was over and I had to celebrate! So I got out of the habit of counting calories (because I’m sure I’ve eaten too many and don’t want to know) and now it feels like such an ordeal to go back to counting calories. Today I ate around 1700 calories and really didnt eat an unhealthy foods,so thats good. For exercise I did a really fast and instense mix of dancing, kickboxing, boxing and srength training moves and it kicked my ass so much that I had to break up the 35 minutes into two different segments, one fore 20 the other for 15. I also walked to anf from work(2 miles) and another mile or so at work. Overall it was a good day. 6 years ago

Today I ate aroun 1900-2000 calories, more than I planned on, but I ended up going to the bar and espresso martinis are so delicious I had to have a second one and then lish showed up so I had an amstel and shit. I did do the strength training excerises today so thats good. At work I tried to walk around alot even though it was slow and I could have got a ride home from the bar but I decided to walk instead and I walked at a very brisk pace so that was good. Tomorrow I hope to keep my calorie intake down at around 1600 to make up for today. I weighed myself this morning and I’ve lost the pound that I gained back, so I am down 2 again, woohoo!! Today I did alright. I ate around 1800 calories, lots of fruits and veggies. I planned on doing the strength exercises today but I was way too sore for from running yesterday, so I’ll do them tomorrow. Getting in three days of cardio may be hard this week because the weather is suppose to be cold, rainy and snowy all week long. I only have one workout dvd and it stops working after 5 minutes, but I guess I could take some out at the library. I could also just dance around my living room, but I always get bored with that or dont push myself hard enough. Oh well, we’ll see what happens… 6 years ago

Well today I did so-so. I really dont know how many calories I ate, I would guess around 2200, which is around 400 more than I planned on. For cardio today I went walking/jogging for around 40 minutes, which was a great workout. Week Two wasnt too great overall. I did get the 3 days of cardio and 2 days of strength traning in, which is good. My diet was not so good being that I overate 3 of the 7 days. Sunday is Easter and I know that Im going to eat more than I should so I hope that up until then I can really stay under 1800 calories each day. 6 years ago

I’m going to take a nice long walk today as a start. Keeping track of what I eat is such a pain in the butt; I have so many more important things to think about… my Peace Corp application, my salesy job, seeing Phillie, being with my partner, talking to friends and family, crafting, reading, trying to learn html, getting off the juice (coffee & soda), that its just too much to track eating and exercise sometimes. My weak back and abs and my poor skin are demanding their attention and it is well past time I put my health first. 6 years ago

Well yesterday I ate/drank too much, around 2600 calories, ooops.. On a lighter note I did do the strength workout and I probably walked around 7 miles throughout the day. Today I ate around 1800 calories. I didnt do any cardio but I waitressed for 7 hours and my tables were upstairs so I went up and down the stairs around 50 times, so that was an ongoing workout. I have tomorrow off and normally I eat too much on my days off so hopefully tomorrow I can keep myself in line! 6 years ago

Today I did very well. I ate 1650 calories, went on a 35 minute walk with lots of hills, walked to and from work(2 miles) and then another 1 or 2 miles at work. I also did some bicycle crunches and some arm exercises. I was really craving chocolate today and instead of eating something totally fattening and calorie ridden I had a Yoplait whips choclate mousse style chocolate cherry yogurt and it was delicious, I love those things, they’re a little high in calories (around 150) but healthier than having a chocolate bar and they taste just as good. 6 years ago
