play the violin in a symphony

I have the best seat on the orchestra. Last desk of the seconds, but rather than this being at the back of the section it sort of fills the gap between the rest of the seconds and the violas, straight facing the conductor and right in the middle of the music. The flutes and oboes are behind me, the brass far enough away to the left and right not to be in my ears.

To experience a symphony from within the music is something I love.

^{I hate it when the conductor decides he wants ‘stereo violins’ and swaps us with the cellos. If he started to do this regularly I think I would start to play viola instead ;)}

and it’s going to be a long one. 7:30-10:00!
sometimes I’m wondering if it’s worth it.
I will think about this but meanwhile…I will go
and do it!

On Tuesday nite, I will attend my first rehearsal in the community symphony. I had a severe panic attack/break down and didn’t really take it out of the box for a year and nine months. I think I’m happy to do it. I think so.

I had to take a two year sabbatical from playing and I just contacted my local symphony and will begin rehearsal in a week playing violin!
