He is awesome! 5 years ago

mavecritterMeeting Crispin Hellion Glover

I can’t believe he was standing just a few feet away from me, and every second he was in the room I spent smiling and staring… The slide show was… There was this red light on his face as he read from his books, and… The way he connects things, that abstract way of understanding things was something I could really connect to, especially with the unconventional sort of warmness he added to it by means of all the expression he put into it, with that great, perfectly annunciated voice of his combined with his facial expression, which just sucks you into the act because of the way they come across in his interesting, angular sort of face. Crispin is absolutely right concerning film taboos, cultural taboos and how it’s, through our reactions to them, that we further understand the perversity that exists in the whole ‘this is good, this is bad’ categorization of things, understand the psychology of what humans have established to be ‘society’, you know, whether a justification for the film or the genuine reason for which he created it, something about it, just like every other creation and aspect of his, impacted me, connected with me psychologically in a strange but genuine way, you know, so regardless of what reaction others may have had, I did not, for a split second, find myself asking ‘what the fuck is this’, though it did, as Crispin claimed was one of the purposes of the film, make me ask questions [like who was being brushed x)]. You know, I just love his way of understanding things. I hope to God that I’ll have another chance to meet him where he won’t be afraid to let his true self be expressed. [And that, through some strange chain of reasoning, he decides not to feed my drawing to a trash can, though I think that’s inevitable.] When I showed the drawing to him he actually asked me if I was an illustrator, phish. x) He was very polite and seemed genuinly interested in what everyone had to say about his film. And another stupid act on my part… I didn’t take a picture of what I drew him. But I could always just re-draw it later… [I won’t mention the specifics of it here for a reason that might make some laugh.] I didn’t know it, but no one under eighteen was supposed to be allowed admittance, meaning I was probably the youngest one to have attended the event. This is probably the most ridiculous sounding thing ever, but… I miss him, his presence has the greatest energy ever, and it’s beyond inspiring, seeing someone so extremely, fondly dedicated and loving of his message and work, I think that love and commitment is one of the reasons I have that Velcro sort of a reaction when around him in any way, it’s great, and as transmittable as the black plague. I’m extremely grateful I got to attend, and will probably be playing the event in my head a few hundred times over so as never to forget a single detail. I wish I could had filmed it, the slide show at least, but it was prohibited. [And he shook my hand… chops it off stuffs it.] 6 years ago
