I moved here to enjoy the city. Now I just sit at home… Why am I paying $1800/month in rent to stay inside?

We never go anywhere since it is sometimes far to walk, he doesn’t like public transit (don’t ask me why, it’s annoying), and parking is horrible in the city.

I’m buying bikes for my husband and I this weekend so we will actually go out.

baths and beaches 2 years ago

Must find out what the “Bath House Ruins” are….
Also, saw FiftyCrows and the rest of 49Geary galleries. Superb.
Hung out this weekend at the Marin Headlands, Rodeo Beach. Very beautiful, but I still prefer Tennessee Valley Beach a little further down.

Salsa, dessert, photos 2 years ago

So we found Cafe Cocomo for salsa lessons and dancing. Thursday at 8pm. It was awesome even though I really wasn’t very good. Also, I tracked down Kiva’s offices, found the best desserts ever at Cafe Grecco, went to the Great American Music Hall which is my favorite show venue now, and found SF Camerawork on Mission where I’m going to volunteer and eventually have a show (I can feel it). Tonight we had some awesome pizza in N.Beach at GoodBoy’s (?) next to Sodini’s (my favorite Italian restaurant!!).

Next assignment: go to FiftyCrows at 49 Geary

Since I last wrote 2 years ago

we went to La Taqueria in the Mission, I found the Fulton St. stairs, we walked around Russian Hill, I discovered 49 Geary for fine art/photography. Making serious progress. Now to find more elusive, less touristy hideouts and getaways buried within.

We moved 2 years ago

Well, after 2 years of living in San Francisco, we have moved to Arizona. It was such a great time of our lives to be in the bay area and we are really going to miss it. I do think that we took advantage of living there. We saw a lot and really enjoyed living in the city and going out into nature. We didn’t finish our list, but we came pretty close.

My husband’s family all live in the Bay area so we will have many chances to go back and fill in the blanks and revisit our favorite places. Of all the things…I will miss La Taqueria burritos most.

Napa and Sonoma 2 years ago

We also went to Napa and Sonoma on Sunday. We started out at Chandon and had champagne and appetizers. We then went over to Mondavi for more tastings. We headed over for lunch at Rutherford Grill, which was awesome. We then ended our day at a couple of small wineries in Sonoma. The weather was perfect and it was so much fun!

Great America 2 years ago

I went to Great America in Santa Clara last weekend with my husband and my mother-in-law. None of us had been there for years so we didn’t really know what to expect. We ended up going on all the scary rides like Top Gun, Drop Zone, and even the Extreme Skyflyer where you basically are released from 300 feet. It was so much fun. Such a great day!

So here are the things left on our list, we are moving in 5 weeks! 2 years ago

Crazy how time flies. Here are the things left on our list:

North Beach
Mendecino
Big Sur
Palace of Fine Arts
Financial District
Richmond District
Sunset District
Berkeley
Yosemite
Pacific Heights
Ferry Building Farmer’s Market
Alcatraz
Angel Island
Bodega Bay
Muir Woods
All the CA Missions

Here is how I feel about the remaining places on my list. We don’t have time to do everything, so we will have to be selective. The following are places on my list that I have already been:

North Beach – wanted to take a tour
Big Sur – wanted to see again
Financial District – wanted to take a tour
Richmond District – wanted to take a tour
Sunset District – wanted to take a tour
Pacific Heights – wanted to take a tour
Ferry Building Farmer’s Market – wanted to see again
Berkeley – wanted to see again
Palace of Fine Arts – wanted to see again

Here are the places I have never been:

Mendicino – don’t think we will have time to go
Yosemite – going in three weeks
Alcatraz – might go see when friends are in town
Angel Island – don’t think we will have time to go
Bodega Bay – don’t think we will have time to go
Muir Woods – don’t think we will have time to go

So…we have really seen a lot of this city. Just love it so much. We come back all the time, though, so we will just see the other things while we are visiting and I’m sure we will think of so many other things to do as well.

Chrissy Field 2 years ago

My husband and I took our pup and walked around Chrissy Field on Wednesday evening. It was a chilly night, but absolutely gorgeous views of the bay, alcatraz, and the golden gate bridge. We feel so lucky to have lived in San Francisco. It truly is the most beautiful city and we have really enjoyed our time here. We only have a few weeks left and most of the time will be spent out of town, so we are getting selective about the last few things to see before we leave.

We will still be visiting several times a year (family and friends) so it is not really goodbye…just see you later. :)

This isn’t a picture I took…it is just from the internet, but it is basically what we saw.
