omg, sailing is wonderful. A 3 dimensional activity – physical (I’m not usually an adrenaline junkie, but loved leaning right out the boat when the winds were strong and cutting through the water), mental (lots of new words, hand-eye stuff) and spiritual (going with the flow, listening to the wind, watching the waves).
Loved it, loved it, loved it. Now carefully watching my tendency to throw myself in fully at great expense. I do wonder if that would really be such a bad thing. I wanted to pack up home and learn to sail for the summer. It’s a good job that boats are reasonably expensive…
Did my course with a pair of honeymooning doctors. We’ve agreed to do the next course together as a team in a few weeks. And I will work at looking good in a wetsuit (= long haul task – ha! no careful draping of material possible…)

A week of sailing ahead – taster session 10am Monday morning! Love the idea of that. Seem like really nice guys. Then if I love it, carry on and do the course. I so want to be out in the elements. yum.

Had a caravan in the Lakes for about 9 years and suddenly noticed leaflets about sailing courses. Wandered down to the lake and the view is so different from the jetty – the mountains more powerful somehow. I’ve walked round the lake a few times, but normally I go up onto the tops of the hills.
I’ve booked RYA level one for next month – not quite on a whim, but an unexpected outcome of going away. Planning level 2 for early September once schools have gone back. Have romantic notions about taking sail boat out for the day on the lake, picnic lunch (no flies), book reading and solitude.
