Given my current situation, not only MUST I say, but I am at peace saying, 3 years ago

no hurry on this.

Unless global warming dramatically speeds up Venice’s sinking, come to think of it.

Hmmm. Maybe not so at peace. This just occured to me since I sat down to write this update.

(Errrrr… global warming’s possible changes, grim thought. I am so GLAD I knew New Orleans and experienced it in the 70’s and 80’s… whatever happens, whatever its next incarnation, it will never, ever be the same. Sure, life, and cities, change continually, but not cataclymsmically, as I fear more and more may, as the earth may do what those poor whales swimming themselves onto the beaches to die did. A friend of mine recently remarked, “Whoever would have thought there would come a time when we’d be saying, ‘Richard Nixon… the good old days.’ ” Recently I made the MOST delicious flan… eight egg yolks… I thought about all the bird flu stuff… I thought, “what is EGGS become a thing of the past, something we only remember nostalgically, like I do New Orleans?”

(Has anyone out there read Margarate Atwood’s futuristic novel, ORYX AND CRAKE? Seems like every day it appears less futuristic…)

Oh, gee… this was meant to be a happy little entry! I guess these sobering things lurk not so far beneath the surface for many of us at this particular time.

Anyway: as far as I* go… assuming it’ll still be there, there is *no hurry in my fulfilling my wish to see Venice!

Chris M is recovering.

maybe forget about the debt part—life is short and Venice is sinking fast!

Let us hope 3 years ago

that, as T.S. Eliot says, “there will be time.”

The important thing is that neither Venice or I sink!
