Hi everyone, I am trying to lose weight and also cut back some hair loss issues I’ve been having. I want to eat more raw foods!!!
How to eat more raw food
How I did it: Drank green smoothies all summer. Usually banana and baby spinach, sometimes added frozen berries of some kind, if I had some around. My recipe:
1 handful baby spinach
1 peeled banana
1 cup frozen blueberries or other frozen fruit (pineapple is good too)
1 - 2 cups of water, depending on how thick you like it.
Blend all for about 10 seconds. Pour into your favorite glass. Drink!
Lessons & tips: Start off with a small handful of greens. Baby spinach is good to start with as it's very mild. When you get used to these you may want to gradually increase the amount of greens per smoothie, because they make you feel so good!
If you don't like banana, mango makes a good creamy base. Or try almond milk. Homemade almond milk tastes ten times better than the boxed stuff.
Resources: Search youtube for green smoothies to get inspired. Also for instructions on how to make almond milk. For some reason, I find it very fun to watch people making smoothies online...don't know why. :)
My smoothie recipe is pretty basic compared to what you'll find when you start searching! Be creative and make your own smoothie masterpiece. :)

I’m going to have to drop this goal. I enjoyed eating 50% raw for the couple months it lasted, but the grocery bill was several times what I normally spend (I can do $20 a week normally). In this economy and with my lack of job stability (I was actually scheduled to be in the last round of layoffs at work) I just can’t afford to do it.
Acco3 is going to junior high school event.
Especially the vegetables on dinner (want to learn the easy vegetable cook for main dish which my sons would love).
More fruits on breakfast when spring.

It’s going awesome! We haven’t been TOTALLY “raw ‘til dinner” everyday, but we have only been eating healthy cooked food. No slip ups on that front.
Going to scope out some raw and regular vegan cookbooks this week, and order some “gourmet” raw ingredients and maybe a personal blender when I get paid.

This is going really great. Michael and I are on Day 5, and the changes already are amazing.
We are basically trying to follow Natalia Rose’s Raw Food Detox Diet. We are basically having only raw fruits and veggies and juices until dinner. Sometimes for lunch we’ll have something prepared, but it’s generally 90% to 100% raw.
For dinner, we’ll do usually something healthy but cooked. We have done veggie stirfry and veggie omlettes so far.
We decided to have some sushi on Tuesday, and that used to be pretty light fare for us, but it’s amazing what going off starches will do! We thought we were going to die afterward! We will definitely get fewer and simpler rolls the next time we decide to get sushi…
But we’re already starting to get the raw glow everyone talks about, and cutting out cow’s milk dairy has been absolutely AMAZING for my skin.

Well, today Michael and I are starting on the Raw Food Detox diet.
My Doctor recommended Scott Olghren’s 28 Day Cleanse, and I got the book, and as it turns out, it’s a modified version of the Raw Food diet by Natalia Rose, which we’ve been wanting to start on for a while.
We’re definitely planning on going “Raw ‘til Dinner” for the first couple weeks, and hovering around her Level 4 / Level 3 recipes.
We tested out my new juicer by making the “Green Lemonade” earlier this morning and it was surprisingly delish (I added too much lemon, though!)
After eating crap for so long, I am sincerely happy to be eating better, and am really focusing not on what I am giving up, but what I have to gain!

There was a vitamix demo in town, and they were selling for $55 less than on the internet…so I went for it! Here I’m about to mix up my first green smoothie in it…and unlike in my cheap blender, it was actually a SMOOTH smoothie :)

I’m really enjoying myself and all the new foods. I’m cutting back on all the speciality items I’ve been making with expensive raw nuts and things…but still going strong.
This is a homemade lara bar recipe I tried recently :)

Eating more raw foods has been working out REALLY well for me. I’ve been at least 50% raw every day and have been having lots of fun trying new recipes. There’s been a noticeable change in my mood and energy levels. I’ve been working out at least once a day…me! I’ve also lost 8.6 pounds already.
I got my dehydrator least week…here is one of the new things I’ve made in it…raw cheeze itz.

This Raw Food Apple Crumble did 3 things for me yesterday. It helped me to break my juice feast. It was what I had for dessert on my vegiversary. And it helped me keep up my new goal of eating more raw foods. :)
This was surprisingly sweet and took all of 10 minutes to whip up in the food processor. I’m not a big fan of dates, so the only change I’d make next time is to put 1 or 2 less in the topping.
