teach my kids to appreciate

They are at the point that they can be equally excited about going to the movies as they are going for a hike in the mountains. They played all weekend in the mountains and never opened the toys I brought when I was afraid they’d be bored.

I love that they are so close to each other. They have a hard time playing with other families with kids who don’t get along as well because it doesn’t occur to them to leave siblings out (my brother can’t come?! that’s not fun..).

They help out when we’re at an event (BBQ, party, etc) and it’s time to clean up. When most kids dissappear, they ask if there’s anything they can do.

I hope that what I’m teaching is a factor in all that they are becoming!

I want to teach them appreciate not just material things (though not enough kids do) but everything. From where they live and who they live with, the things they have, the society around them…they’re very fortunate and they have access to such a multitude of experiences and options for their lives. They can literaly be and do anything they want if they just try and I want them to see that not everyone has that laid out before them like they do. A good life isn’t something that’s just given to you, it’s what you make of it…so make it my darlings and be ever grateful that you had the chance!
