My current cell phone is a piece of crap that barely holds a charge anymore. One text message will come in, and it starts beeping about a low battery. It’s old, and it’s definitely time for me to buy a new phone. I just need to stop procrastinating and get around to doing it.

How I did it: I paid $8 for a used sell phone from my nephews father. Works much better than my old phone, which I have had for at least 3 years. So far its a pretty good phone. Its not a touch, not even a flip phone. But it gets the job done! Read how I did it…

How I did it: I got straight A's in all my classes, which caused me to make the Distinguished Honor Roll. Now, I'm normally a straight D type of student, so getting straight A's is a big deal. My nana ended up buying me the new Samsung Propel for me (: Read how I did it…

I have no phone and it sucks… I think I am going to go ahead and indulge in that new LG Dare from Verizon Wireless and just get a plan with the minimum number of minutes and like 500 texts a month. Along with insurance, it should be close to $60 a month. I am going to make sure to get a blue tooth headset with it so I don’t end up getting pulled over for talking on my phone with the new law about talking/texting on your cellular device. =]

all charged and with the sim card in it already. I put the sim card from my old phone in it so I could keep my number.
This morning, I was getting ready to throw the shipping box away, I saw something in the bottom. I pulled it out, and it was a $25 card for minutes (I have a pay as you go plan).
The phone was $29, 30-ish with tax. I bought a lanyard for $3. So phone and lanyard actually ended up costing a net of just $8. How cool is that?

I went online. I narrowed down the affordable choices to a cool-looking Samsung and an old-fashioned-looking Motorola. The Motorola was appealing because it ran significantly longer on a charge. The Samsung looked good . . . and it was red!
I decided to ask my hubby. He used to repair police radios and similar equipment, and I knew he’d remember brand names.
“Which should I get, the cool-looking Samsung or the old-fashioned Motorola?”
“Motorola, hands down.”
Motorola it is.
I am also thinking of getting that $10 per month home phone service from t-mobile. I’d have to buy phones, but right now I am probably paying $40-$50 per month for my local service and my long distance service. I’d recoup the money for the phones in 2 or 3 months.
i don’t want to spend money on a new cell phone any more. it seems unnecessary.

as I was buying congratulatory flowers for someone in Kroger. I dropped the phone into a bucket of flowers (and, more to the point, water). Even though the guy behind the counter gave me paper towels and I wiped it off immediately, it seems to be dead. I cannot charge it, either.
On the plus side, it’s probably five years old, battered and ready for replacement. Off to T-Mobile sometime this week for a new one.
