I went with a normal Posturpedic bed. I still have some remorse because the sleep number beds are cool. However, I went to the store and layed in all of them several times, as did my sister and parents, and we decided that for 1/4 the price of the price of the comperable model, the Posturepedic was just as comfortable. If I decide that I want my mattress firmer or less firm than it currently is, I guess I’ll just be out of luck.
Oh well. I’m excited either way, I’m actually having visions of vacuuming (you know, the kind you do between old furniture going out and new furniture coming in). I should have it within a week!

My parents offered to lend us the money for this to help me with my back pain. My husband said to go ahead and ask mom for the money and we’ll buy the bed this weekend. Yay!
We’re going to get a California king I think. The base (aka cheapest) model is $1,800 for that size with the frame and such. It should be $1,948.50 with tax, and I’d imagine we’d spend another $50-100 on sheets and other incidentals.
We got new pillows recently (I already have my Select Comfort “magic pillow,” now we got some nice pillows for Charles and for the couch). It could work. All that’s left to do is call mom to accept her offer and measure the room to make sure we can fit the king in there. Hmmm, not in that order, I realize, so I know how much I’m asking for! Maybe I’ll take mom to the store with me! =)

I think that we need to upgrade from a full to a queen or larger bed. On top of that, I’ve had back issues for a while and I think that this could really help. I got a pillow from the store that sells the sleep number beds, and that already helped a lot! It was the most expensive pillow I’ve ever purchased, but so worth it, because I wasn’t sleeping through the night before and now I normally do.
So anyhow, I figure that if we’re buying a bigger bed anyway, why not get a sleep number bed while we’re at it? I was surprised at how the sleep number beds are not much more expensive than normal mattresses (if at all).
Of course, we don’t have any immediate plans to buy a new bed. But when we do…

I have a really bad back from my younger days. As I’ve gotten older it’s really started to catch up to me. I’ve made a decision to buy this bed in 2007, the earlier the better.
