abeburnettPeople are not shallow

At least, I don’t think so. Agreeably, I only lived there three months last year, but I did get around a LOT in that three months. I worked at a couple talent agencies and enjoyed myself immensely. I think they get a bad rap because they are highly developed socially. Some people mistake this for shallowness, when it’s merely that they’ve adapted mannerisms that help them to live around millions of others in safety and comfort. I will admit that LA is more image concious then many smaller towns, but no more so then any huge, “happening,” town. I knew a great many very decent people in LA. It probably does have something to do with one’s temperment. I’m easy going, intense, likeable, and genuine and got along fabulously there. But that’s my 2c. 6 years ago

abeburnettDecided

I’ve decided to move to Los Angeles. Why move anywhere else when I know that’s really where I want to move? Yes, the rent is so expensive I might need to sell an organ off every month just to make ends meet; but, if that’s what it takes then that’s just what it takes. True, I may also never make it big as an actor or screenwriter, but at least I’ll be happy living life in the meantime. I’m going there to stay, not to “see how it goes” or “try acting” or anything half-mast like that. It’s a fun town, tons of diversity, lots of opportunity, outstanding weather (I’m one of those people who would LOVE to NEVER see snow again in my entire life), and so on and so forth. I even don’t mind the traffic. Sure, the 405 and 101 can get pretty nasty, but hey, there’s pluses and minuses to any town right? LA has traffic, high rent, and the occasional earthquake. The tradeoffs are exceptable. My goal is to move there sometime this year; most likely around September or October. 6 years ago

abeburnettThe title of this ToDo *was* to move to Los Angeles

...but now I’m seriously considering moving elsewhere. The reason I’d move to Los Angeles was 1)the nice weather (which I loved), and 2)the movie business there. I’m still considering LA because it does have outstanding weather, but I’m leaning away from it because of the high cost of living there. It’s excrutiating. My rent there was $500—and that was considered a steal (and didn’t include utilities). The movie business is a fading factor in my life, not because I don’t have immense levels of talent and potential (which I do); I’m just not sure that I want to work in such an industry. There are other things in my life and aspirations that would be seriously compromised by a career in that industry… family, marriage, spirituality. So, I’m debating about following other interests of mine and what will really make me happy. I’m still not sure. The only thing I’m sure of is that I’m moving somewhere warmer and with lots more sun this year… before the first snow falls next winter (i.e. no later than September). 6 years ago
