I want to learn website development as soon as possible

Finally got enough RAM on my computer so I can load it back on and start doing this, I’d just like to get the basics as I know I could spend years learning this

I need to either do this or shut the door on it. But if I shut the door on it, it also involves giving up on the idea of restarting the catalyst website, which I don’t want to do.
So in many ways, because this is such a weight that I keep avoiding, this is beginning to feel not so much like something I want to do but a necessary evil towards getting the website up and running again. And I need to just keep that in mind, that it’s not just a matter of sitting down and learning geek stuff (boring)—it’s also the thing that’s going to let me do all this neat stuff on a project I have been sad that I haven’t been able to do much on for months.
My goals for this month:- Study enough that I can design my own personal website (something I have been wanting to do for years anyway)
- Understand the coding of the catalyst as it is written now such that I could just bring it back to life “as-is”

I really need to learn how to create a website from the ground up. I can edit a site already created or I can do a simple page using HTML/Frontpage but I really need to step up to the plate and learn a professional web design language.

I bought a Mac Powerbook and the software, and the classroom in a book. Now I just have to sit down and do it. I’m in the middle of packing and moving, but when I get all set up, I’ve got to get on it!
lynda.com is working pretty well for me as far as video tutorials, but there is so much to learn! And it’s hard to remember all of the little things that make a big difference.

But it will be SUCH an advantage for me, work-wise. The online training course is free (work pays for it), but the time commitment is daunting. I don’t have a good excuse for not doing this. I’m being lame!!!
I have already agreed to make an entire website with forums, a music and video download section, and membership facilities. I have already been paid for it but have never ever used dreamweaver before or ‘done’ a website. The clock is ticking and the kettle is on.
I’ve watched 15+ hours of sequential instructional video (only about 15 more left until I’ve “learned everything” that dreamweaver has to offer). I’ve learned and retained most of the basics and I can probably make a professional looking website. As of right now I am waiting for my videos on how to use fireworks to finish downloading so I can learn how to make professional looking images and also lay out my basic page to set as a background image to layout my website on dreamweaver. :)
