as of this past may, i took the plunge and got a stick – wooo. been learning since. been fun so far, and no major mishaps knocks on wood – i’m still learning cause i get to drive it only a few times a week, but i’m def more comfortable driving it already (when first began i was so nervous each time i went to drive it – my hands would be shaking afterwards, hah). i hope to get really good at it and to the point where driving it comes naturally w/o a thought, just as driving automatic was. :-D

I love my little automatic car. But I know that knowing how to drive stick is a very important skill to have. I’m worried about needing this skill in some kind of emergency situation and not having it. Like if I have to drive a woman in labor to the hospital and the only car available is manual, or if I’m invited to be on Top Gear or something like that.

Genevieve is officially a bad ass stick-shift driver! Yeahhhhh!!! Hee hee, ok I’m done with the third-person thing. Anyways, today at work I learned how to drive a stick on one of the companies old beat-up pick-ups. I’m quite proud of myself and did fabulous according to all of the guys I work with, so yay me! XD I’m happy to mark this OFF my list now.

Although I’m happy with my uber low carbon footprint, I would like to overcome my fear of driving at some point.
THe only two times in my life I’ve tried to do this, I’ve almost killed the person trying to teach me :( I should take advantage of these country roads while I still got em.

That so many guys I meet, as soon as I tell them I can’t drive a stickshift, they insist that they’ll teach me and none of them ever follow through? Dumb.
I just don’t know if this is worth it. There are so many automatic cars out there that I don’t think this skill is worth having. My boyfriend’s dad asked me if I wanted to learn on their old pickup and I said probably not.

I’ve lived in the country all my life. Literally, same small town of less than 500 people, where farming is what we(and I use that term lightly as I don’t like it to apply to me…) do, and I don’t know how to drive a manual. I’m probably only kid my age in my town that hasn’t worked harvest at some point and doesn’t know how to drive a stick. I need to fix this. Pronto.
I enjoyed this, we are even putting up the car up for sale because I have learned the skill. I think it is a great thing for everyone to know.
jessieb4cnusb swam a mile and did some crunches today.. tomorrow jogging or lifting
So my boyfriend hasn’t tried to teach me to do this in a long time because of our busy schedules, but from what he has already told me I could do it just not very good.. If someone was chasing me, my car broke down, and the only way I could escape was driving away in a stick shift I could do it which is good enough for me! So I’m calling this one busted..
