How am I going to relax during my break from work? 14 hours ago

I know I have to do this, I’m spending way too much money on over-priced lattes and I know that caffeine is messing up all the effort I’ve been putting into my eating habits…

The thing I worry about the most isn’t feeling sleepy, but the fact that I genuinely love to find a lovely coffee shop and chill out with a book… Maybe I could scale down the visits to once or twice a week and just have hot milk… Hmmm.

Starting from now. Peppermint tea and water on the go. Tea cabinet purged and little bag of tea waiting to go to a new home.

I just finished putting together a parcel for my sister and used the teabags as shock-absorbant packaging :-)

Still completely failing at this. 1 month ago

I have ordered a few waters, teas, and lemonades but I forget more than half the time and get soda. ;p

Total fail 2 months ago

Geesh. I went two days without it and felt great, then got right back on the wagon. Starting today I’m going to try to remember to order something sweet and sugary instead of coffee or soda, like lemonade and whatever. The problem is it’s just my reflex to order soda at this point.

Been Caffeine free since Monday May 4, 2009.

There were two primary reasons I chose this:

  1. The “latte factor”—Buying a coffee (more likely 2-3) adds up fast. $2×30 = $60, then on top of that I usually get a baked good to go with that. I’m so broke right now that it does actually make a difference.
  2. Energy—I remember the first time I quit coffee. For days I felt without energy, and I could barely function without it. Gradually my energy levels came back, and I felt even more vibrant than before. I didn’t experience those high peaks and low valleys that coffee would induce.

Bye bye Dr. Pepper 2 months ago

I’ve been fully addicted to fizzy drinks for a while now, whilst being fully aware of how bad it is for your health and how much money I’ve probably spent. ENOUGH! I’ve been cramming the last couple of days, which is going to make things 10 times worse, but I’m going home from uni today and plan to detox. I want to give up my addictions, so no more Dr Pepper, no more caffeine. Instead, a healthier diet, lots of water, a decent night’s sleep and a bit of excercise to give me some good old natural energy.

What’s the worst that could happen?

(Sorry, I couldn’t resist)

Farewell. 2 months ago

Lucky for me I have a boyfriend who’s obsessed with juice and smoothies. It seems like a smoothie addiction is a nice way to replace a caffeine addiction. Although a nice strong cup of black coffee or a Dr. Pepper will have to remain an occasional treat. I bet this will help with my irritability and insomnia, not to mention my teeth!

I have already stopped drinking coffee for the most part, and I’ve been through the withdrawal symptoms, so the hardest part is done. I just need to stop drinking diet soda. I will wait until my diet soda is gone to do that.

caffeine saved my day 4 months ago

This is not going well. Yesterday I woke up and had to go straight to Jiu-Jitsu class, so I bought a mocha.

Honestly, it helped a lot. It gave me energy when I hadn’t ate/drank anything yet that day.

My problem with caffeine is that I usually go on a major caffeine binge for one or two months, then I cut it out completely for long periods of time, six months or so.

It’s becoming a problem now because a) “The Latte Factor” means all these lattes add up to lots of $$$ over time and b) It makes me feel sluggish from all the sugar intake.

So today I’ve decided no more lattes. That’s it.
