Think I’ve managed to achieve some semblance of organization, at the very least organized chaos. I’ve sorted the rest of my art gear into separate translucent ArtBin containers. Now if I could only find a tidy way to store my sketchbooks and canvas I’d be set!

I bought a small filing cabinet off craigslist- it has one drawer for files and 2 small storage drawers. I put assignments & notes from art class that could fit in the file drawers.
I put art paper in one of the small drawers.
I put my pens, tape, rulers, etc in the other small drawer.
That what essentially what I needed to accomplish when I listed this as one of my things. I also have a large rubbermaid tub with all of my jewelry supplies, and another medium sized bin with glues, sewing supplies and “other” – need to sort & purge that one. These days I mostly just use the glue or needles & thread and not the other junk in there!

I am able now to paint my t-shirts with the correct type of paint considering all my paints were mixed and I couldn’t tell the difference :)
It’s really nice to have everything so accessible now! Prior to this, I had things put away so they’d be easy to find, but it was a painful task trying to retrieve them. Things were also sprawled across the entire house, which was not conducive to working on anything. Now, my supplies are at least centralized in one common area. All that’s left now is to position supplies for every day projects, and those late night sketch fests I adore!!

I’m converting a wall at home in a cork board where I can stick my drawings, gallery-trial :P
Also, I want this:

...and I was so inspired, I did it in 7 hours! ;)
I cleaned out the sunroom and transformed my area into a very inviting little studio. I decided to forego the galvanized buckets and just use some photo boxes I already had for storage. Everything looks good, but not TOO nice for a studio. :)
I already got started on a painting, too – my mom has been after me to paint her a sand dunes landscape, so I finally got it started – I only have a VERY VERY VERY rough outline done so far, but hopefully I can actually finish it now that I have a nice space to work in! :)
...so I sold an entire bookcase worth of books so I could transform that bookcase into my art supply area. Now I just need to get containers to keep my supplies in, and still keep them accessible and keep my studio looking cute. I’m thinking about getting some galvanized buckets to keep the smaller things in. I gave myself until July 15th to get it all done…wish me luck!
Here is my basic problem, I have tons of art supplies that I’ve accumulated and need a way to organize them. I use most of the supplies often so I need them to still be easily accessable. My idea right now is to collect a bunch of containers, boxes, jars ect. then decorate and decopauge them so they match and look nice if they were just out on a shelf or desk. I’m on summer break right now so I want to get this done before school starts up again in Fall and I start getting assignments again.
any suggestions?
Here’s what I’ve done: I am using a decorative storage box for the pens, ruler, tape, etc. (It’s like a medium sized cardboard box with a pattern on the outside.) I am using an accordion file for homework assignments, but some stuff is a bit too wide so I have to stick them in standing up and leave them sticking out a bit. I can probably trim them to fit and then be able to close the file! And for now, I just put the fall class’ assignments in order and stuck it in a binder (w/o punching holes). I still may buy a filing cabinet with a drawer or 2 for art supplies, where I can keep it all.
