Jared Wondering where to go

Yay for Cubase 4 days ago

Cubase 4 was what I first found midi composition on. I flourished using it. I later tried using Reason, which is ok, but didn’t quite jive with my way of working (although it’s intuitive style of linking effects was a joy).

I now have Cubase Studio 5, but have been super busy since the day it arrived on my doorstep. So far I’ve found a bunch of free VST (http://www.dskmusic.com/blog/ is a great source, he’s very talented)

Now I just need to resolve a clicking sound ruining the sound. Which I will fix as soon as I have time to read enough about it and what I can do with my soundcard’s buffer size.

After all that, I will make a new song (or 10) every week when I have time to work! Which I will have once I get back from Chicago since I will have Thanksgiving break from work.

Finding time to compose music is not easy 17 months ago

I have about 12 unfinished compositions that I’d like to attend to. Unfortunately, I’m busy many other things and have not made this a priority.

Ew... 2 years ago

I quit my composition degree two months ago due to the utter disorganisation of my department. It was really depressing, but last night I started humming a little tune…do mi fa so, so do la so, so la fa mi…so maybe there’s hope. A little tip-tapping song inside is worth more than a symphony on paper. I’m going to stick to believing that from now on.

motivation 4 years ago

I am a student focusing on composition this semester. I find it’s nice to actually have time dedicated to composing, but also there are times when I HAVE to compose things for homework assignments and I’m just not in the creative mood. I’m trying to find what works for me… I’ve learned I can’t get into the zone while I’m at home (too many distractions) I have to lock myself in the practice rooms in the basement of my school and have hours of solitude. If anyone has suggestions for getting over creative roadblocks, etc, I would love to hear them.
