How I did it: How did I do it? I don't want to admit to to myself, but I could never write a love letter to someone I feel like I'll ever see again; it's this creeping certainty that he's gone that makes it possible to express myself without gibbering, this feeling that I will never be able to say these things to his face and so may as well say them here, where at least they're solid and coherent and not rattling around inside me like vinegar in a paper mache volcano.

Lessons & tips: Fixating on him, and the absence of him, makes every word I write a love letter to that "dirtyorganicsexthing" of mine... it's just putting them together that's the time-consuming part.

How I did it: My boyfriend was leaving for about a month for a backpacking excursion. We weren't going be able to talk for the whole time so I wrote him a letter and stuck it into his pack with things he would be looking at on the plane. On one side I put a picture of the night sky with Orion's belt (the only constellation we know) and then on the back I just wrote a short, but heartfelt note. I hope he likes it. Read how I did it…

    Originally when I put this as my goal it was with the intention of writing an anonymous letter of love, perhaps send it in a bottle, or inscribe it for the world to see (if it were more of a love phrase). I’m not going to put another bottle in the ocean, so that’s out. Dunno, writing a love letter seems a cheesy goal for me if I’m intending it for someone. If I intended to write a love letter for someone I would write it. I wouldn’t make it a goal. I would just do it.

    I was going to write one but i asked the lovely hairly little man i was going to write it to if i should and he basically said not to bother, though he was flattered. I hate flattered!
    So i saved my ink. It’s no big deal, i’ll write the love letter to someone else some other time.

    my boyfriend always feels bad because when we exchange cards, we spend a few minutes writing little love notes in them, but he always feels he cant write good enough. but he hasnt realized yet that all he has to write is “i love you”
