Mentoring is a great experience! 2 years ago

I mentored a little girl from when she was 7 up to when she turned ten. It was amazing to see how sometimes it just takes one person to change a life. I was worried that I wouldn’t have enough time to help (I was a teacher and going to school full time), but really all I had to do was set up an hour or two a week to see her. I enjoyed every minute of it. Still inspired by the experience I now work at New York City’s iMentor, an innovative mentoring organization. I see the huge difference mentoring makes in the lives of young people every day! There are lots of mentoring organizations all over the country. You can go to www.mentoring.org and locate a program near you. If you are in NYC, check out imentor.org. Go for it!

Nothing better than inspiring and helping kids do whatever they want. I want nothing more than to do this for the restof my life.

and hannah.. just some of the twenty-something first graders i mentored my senior year in high school. from helping danny clean chicken spaghetti puke off his jeans after swinging too high on the swings to hearing kelby hope that he moves to second grade even though his coloring skills weren’t up to par, mentoring was probably one of the highlights of my high school experience.
