Trashcan Fashionista is living it up!
I finished it last night! I am pleased with the results!
How I did it: After numerous attempts, I decided on a file folder to house my many scattered recipes. At first I tried a binder but quickly ran out of room and the pages kept falling out. I then tried a Tastebook but it took too long to type out my recipes and you can't add more once it's completed. Not to mention you have to pay for the actual book and the shipping of it.
I bought a flexible file folder (a pretty one that I liked) and created my own personal tabs. Then I went to work sorting all of my recipes. It only took one night to complete it and it's so much more organized! I love it!
Lessons & tips: Use the method that you like the most. Don't type it all out if you hate typing and don't organize it if you can't keep it up. Don't make it a chore.

After many different attempts, I decided that a file folder would be the best method for my cookbook. That way, I can keep adding recipes, it doesn’t take forever to type them, and it can be organized exactly the way I want. Here’s a picture of it:

This is going pretty well. I have 16 recipes and I plan on trying more to see if I like them enough to add them. My problem what that I have tons of recipes from magazines and so forth just lying around. Thia is actually helping me cook more and see which ones are cookbook-worthy. Now if only I could finish that t-shirt quilt :)

The other night, I actually started this. I only have 3 recipes, but it’s a start. I am making one of those ones online where they do all the work (categorize it and make it look professional) and bind it for you. I can’t wait!

I think this goal is encouraging me to go through all my recipes and actually try them. Then I can weed out the ones that aren’t good and/or hard to make. I’ve been cooking up a storm lately! Last night, I made Portobello Stroganoff. That’s a keeper!
I can’t wait to make my cookbook!

I tried a new recipe tonight. This one was crab-free ‘crab cakes.’ They are awesome and made out of zucchini. They will be added to the cookbook! :)

I saw another 43 Thinger have a goal of making a Tastebook. So I checked out the website and saw that it’s basically a cookbook that you upload your recipes to and search theirs for ones you like. Then they make a hardcover edition for you! This is so much better than my binder of recipes from magazines. This will rock when it’s finished!

I have tons of recipes from magazines, friends and other sources all stuffed into a small 3-ring binder. I want to write them all on recipe cards and put them into a nice binder with plastic sleeves. Maybe even have a picture of the dish on the card. Oh my :)
I told my mother that I was starting to collect recipes for a cookbook that I was making when she informed me that she had already been making me one and that it was supposed to be a surprise. opps. lol
once my mother is finished i will add to it as the years go on, but I think I can excuse myself fromthis one in good conscience.
sabrina has filed her first fafsa ever, go her!
I’ve been making soap for a hobby for going on 10 years, and I belong to a community of soapmakers that gets together every year in the spring to hang out and do demonstrations, etc. This is the 10th anniversary of this group’s Gathering, and for our keepsake this year, we’ve decided to compile a cookbook of recipes from the members, along with photos, etc. going back through the previous Gatherings. So I’m collecting the recipes now, and the finished product will be handed out at the 2008 Gathering in April. After having collected recipes since last April, it’s coming down to the wire soon!
