ricktheogre is writing his code test-first
Usually, I just play through a spare vocal mic for a clean sound. But when I want a raunchier, “Chicago-blues” style sound, I need a “bullet” microphone (which I have) and an amplifier of my own. I’ve got a 15-watt Marshall model with built-in digital effects . . . so I can play around a bit with things like “delay” and “chorus”. But it’s got a problem with the overdrive channel (the sort of problem that makes no sound come out), which is where the really crunchy sounds live.
So I need a new amp, and I’ve got my eye on something like a Fender Bassman in the 30-watt range. Last time I checked, that would set me back a little less than $300. That just might be all the amp I’ll need until I’m ready to move up to a vintage tube-based amplifier, which would cost at least twice as much.
