take a long train ride

An all day train ride down the West coast of Italy and an unexpected Ferry trip where they put the whole train on a Ferry and rode across the strait of Messina! A very pleasant and unique experience.

1. from Savannah to St. Albans Vermont
2. from Moncton NB Canada to Prince George, BC, Canada.
3. from Anchorage to Fairbanks and back.
4. from Chicago to New Orleans.

That is what I have done.

Oh I forgot, twice I have

5. from Chicago to New York.
6. from Barcelona to Gijon.

Yes I love life.

7. from Paris to Barcelona;
8. from San Sebastian to Paris.

Yes, I love life. Ain’t it grand? And the memories!

Oh and when I was but a wee babe in me mither’s arms, she took me tae Mexico in the train from Galesburg to Kansas City, thence to Mexico. Oh ho ho ho!

My maternal grandfather and great grandfather were locomotive train fanatics, so we spent quite a bit of time at a place in northern Ohio called “Trolleyville, USA”. I always got a kick out of riding the 13 mile track. Maybe someday on vaction I’ll get back up that way for nostalgic purposes.

and this would be the perfect excuse to go on an extended train ride. There is also one from New York to Portland, where I hear the scenery is AMAZING. I would love to do this, as it would give me time to myself and a lot of relaxation to ponder whatever it is that I will want to ponder at that particular time.
