Make local friends

hi friends

So I am not the greatest at making new friends, I think it has a lot to do with getting wrapped up in life and forgetting that my life is just as important as the ones I care for. I have friends, but they don’t live around me, so I suppose a great goal for the new year would be for me to expand my social circle.

Hi, My name is Jody. i am 38 years old. I love doing things outside (quad riding, camping, etc). I am very quite and shy. I have no guy friends and I am just looking for someone local to hang out with, have fun, drink and kick back.

I have recently realized that over the past four years (while I was working/studying) I did a wonderful job of alienating myself from friends. Now that I have graduated I’ve tried to reconnect with some old friends but have come up short. Sometimes friendships die off and often times people grow out of one another. Currently I do not feel like I am mourning any losses but having a social network is important for ones sanity.

So in order to keep it moving I would like to make new, local, (female), friends. I say local because most of the people that I consider good friends are not in New York and I say female because I have an easier time befriending males than females. I guess I have always known this but I never really acknowledged it until a friend pointed out the male to female ratio at a recent picnic I had.

Now that I am married I think it makes sense to try to cultivate friendships with other women who share my interests, can deal with my sarcasm and are down to shoot the sh!t over good food and cocktails.

Not sure where to begin on this but will make every concentrated effort to meet someone new this week.

I’m trying. I’m reaching out to people. One person met me this week. I liked her: I hope she liked me too, but I’m waiting for her to email me now…

I’ve admitted I’m having problems making friends. I’ve used the internet to reach out to people. I even talked to someone at toddler group on Friday.

I’d love to build up a big group of local friends. Hell, even a small group :) I’m not particularly exciting, but I’m not all that evil, either.
