1 – Reach out to friends. There should be someone I know or someone a friend knows that can teach me the basics of climbing.
2 – If friends fail, try the yellow pages.
3 – Find out if I can rent equipment to see if I like the activity.
4 – Start climbing.

Without it my life would appear to have no purpose. It is my greatest passion to choose a tree that “speaks” to me and endeavour to climb it. I won’t always climb to the top; I just enjoy the uniquness of each and every tree and how it encourages me to move through it in order to progress upwards.
When I’m not thinking and I am moving fluidly…it truly feels like a dance.
When I was growing up, my house backed onto a huge field which was full of excellent climbing trees. There was one especially big sycamore tree which we built a couple of treehouses in (after the first one was destroyed by big boys).
Like Tigger however, I’m not so good at getting down the tree again. Thank goodness for gravity.
I do this all the time. It’s so fun to swing yourself through the branches, and when you reach the top you get a beautiful view. Unfortunately I don’t get to do this much when I’m at university because there aren’t many forests and people will give me funny looks if I climb the trees in the parks!
